Looked pretty average in the GWS final too. Was elite at reading the ball, but still sometimes chose a mark when he should have spoiled and was killed on the lead or in a wrestle. I think it was an even trade, Hawks needed him and we got a lot of draft picks.

Sounds like exacrly the player we traded.

Read the play well - just never as good as Gov.

Liked to play the interceptor...but sometimes at the cost of his opponent and again, never as well as Gov.

Never handled taller opponents and often beaten on the lead by quicker forwards.

Hawks meeting with Zac Merrett.

Old mate Sammy Mitchell loves sniffing around other clubs contracted players doesn't he?

Well considering how much he liked the Rayne in Perth it's clear he doesn't care much about people being spoken for :straining:

Good to see our membership went up again, by 4k, despite the horrid year.

Richmond lost another 6k, after falling out of the 100k members last year. Probably shows why their club is looking to sell home games already...

Oh well, at least we're currently good at something!

This is why guys like James Hird argue so strongly against us getting assistance. They want the club to be on its knees, but our business model remains sound. If the business is robust, they know it's just a matter of time before we win a flag again.

Zach Merrett has made it clear he's actively putting the feelers out hasn't he? It's not like Hawthorn was surprise visitor this time.

That being said, I didn't realise Hawthorn had spoken to Butters at some stage as well.

there isnt a trade window- is a full years process these days,

You've got to plant enough seeds, long enough in advance, in the hope that one or two sprout. Don't think anyone thought Merrett would leave Essendon, but enough discussion, talks about big finals, playing in games that matter, and then him seeing Draper leave, Ridley want out.

He's probably gone, **** it. I've never played in a winning final, I'm 250+ games in, i'll hit 350 if i stay here and I still won't have played in a winning final. What am i doing?

Trying to bait him? If you see the vision she's standing about 10 rows back the stands taking photos, how is that baiting?

What a grub campaigner that guy is - I'm sure he will come out and again claim mental health to try generate some sympathy for himself.

Last player he met with signed extended with West Coast for two more years. Good signs!

The wheel might finally start to turn. Media don't like one of their own copping it for simply doing their job.
So the AFL fines players for flipping the bird.
Surely they step in now.

Then again, Dillon did drive down to meet Smith in person so probably not.

Not like Sam Mitchell to not respect relationships and commitment, has a habit of sniffing and sticking his finger, sorry nose ( maybe both and another thing allegedly ) into places that he really should not be doing, or going near.

Also has a habit of getting caught doing so.

What are those saying - any port in a storm and when it raiyns, it pours.

Maybe a mixed metaphor in there, somewhere.
