Would you mind sharing where you've got your stats from?
I struggle to find U18 numbers online.

Cheers :thumbsu:

He was also exceptional for the Sandgropers at this year’s National Under-18 Championships. He won All-Australian selection and finished second in the Larke Medal, after he averaged 16 possessions (11 contested), 37 hitouts, four clearances, three tackles, and two inside 50s across four games. He was named in the best against Vic Metro (15 possessions – 13 contested – 35 hitouts, six clearances and three tackles), South Australia (15 possessions – 12 contested – 35 hitouts, five clearances and three tackles) and Vic Country (19 possessions – 11 contested – 37 hitouts, five clearances and five inside 50s)
I get that CDT shared ruck duties, but his stats aren't even in the same postcode of what Jackson put up.

You missed the best years, right before you joined BF.
The best years were the ones before you graced us with your wisdom.

Can anyone who watched the SANFL this year give some info on who the dominant ruckmen were this year. Everyone keeps talking about how the changed rules will benefit a ruckman like CDT but what does it look like in the SANFL.

If they also change it to benefit the more athletic and jumping ruckmen ie, stopping players stepping across the centre circle and jostling, how would this affect CDT.

Thanks mate! I remember watching Jackson live in his draft year and he was unironically like a man amongst boys.
He would legit monster the center bounce, roll forward, jump on everyone's head, take a speccy, and kick the goal.

So far and away the best on field, I wasn't surprised when he went pick 2 in the end - absolute freak at Jnr levels.

The ruck rules make it an interesting time. I know Logan Morris had a terrific year, but if Reid comes on as a genuine ruck/forward or ruck/defender we could've nabbed a gem at the perfect time. I wonder where he'd be taken in this draft?

I concur with all of you in that if we take CDT it isn't for his rucking craft. We took a dominant Barnett who it turns out was only really any good because he was an early bloomer and bigger than everyone else. I'm not against taking CDT at 2 IF and a BIG IF we know what we want him to be. Under the old regime we burnt the last miscellaneous talented tall we had. Okay, the fact he was a squib didn't help, but was he always a squib or did we turn him into a squib?

From his draft profile.

DRAFT ANALYSIS: "The best swingman in the 2017 draft pool, with healthy debate ongoing about where the mobile tall plays his best football."

Turns out that debate was never settled.

That is my big concern.

Apparently Jacob Blight had some attitude issues at Richmond. Refusing to play a certain way in a system, perhaps a reason why he was cut despite being good enough to play AFL.
He will be delisted, if we can pick him up with **** all that is a win.

Jack Redden really doesn't get the kudos he deserves. Bloke could football.
Underrated. He retired a year or two early and that when the wheels really fell off.

Nevertheless, I am keen on the trade period because watching the finals/footy is bullshit right now. I am hoping we can turn Pick 1 & 2 into three picks into the top 10 landing Sharp, Cumming, Schubert and F1 that will be top 5.

Am I dreaming? Probably it's a big ****ing ask.

Sliding doors moment. 2023 draft, we take Logan Morris, I would bet my beloved Quinten Lynch player issue guernsey that we don't take Jobe Shanahan in 2024. Maybe we take Barrat or Mraz? I think we were linked to Barrat.

I genuinely cannot fathom his hype. He’s great at ground level, like a fourth midfielder even! You know what he isn’t though? A midfielder. He’s a ruck that can’t even beat his own age group in the contest. He has regularly been beaten throughout the year. We don’t need a Jackson, and by the same token admittedly all we do need is someone competitive, but if the rules are going to change to allow for less physically dominant rucks and more skillful rucks, I’d rather just get A Reid training there full time. If we were drafting CDT at the Hawks pick then f***ing sick that’s awesome get him in. But the talk is at 2. And at 1 and 2 we need players that fix our ball winning woes. First and foremost. You don’t need an elite ruck to win premierships, or even win games.
Listen guy that's a cool little rant, but the fact is CDT is meant to be a top 5 pick in the draft and Barnett was not. They have never projected to be the same player. Just pointing out the disparity there, as I find it a lazy way of taking a jab at the kid.

I think it was determined that it was in D grade amateurs.

In 2024, 198cm Harry Boyd dominated the SANFL winning premiership and awards. Got a spot at St Kilda via SSP but delisted after 1 game and one year.

Yeah, it was, I don’t want to draft him. They’re not even close to the same player. The comparison is Luke Jackson and he averages half the hit outs he did at his Jackson’s age. He’s wank in the ruck, inaccurate shot on goal. I just don’t see it, and I’m probably just digging myself a hole and convincing myself more by saying it but if we draft him with 1 or 2 I’ll be livid.

Honestly think CDT is suited as a forward pinch hitting in the ruck

With all this conjecture around him ...is he a ruck or forward? I think its a risk as a top 1/2 pick

If he comes to us I would have him as a forward

Thinks hes better than what they're asking him to do, or just didn't understand instruction?

Moreso that he was a fringe player that wanted to stand out and show his attributes playing VFL rather than playing as part of a system for the betterment of the team.

teamwork is overrated after all, I only go to the footy to watch dominant key defender performances
