If you’re going to bid on him from a fair price POV, surely you do it at Pick 1 where it costs the most.

Went from being an interesting finals series tot he most boring one imaginable.

3 of the last 3 premiers and a club that won 3 flags just over a decade ago.

3 of the teams have also won 4 flags this century.

Juxtapose that with 3 of the 4 eliminated teams having never won a flag and one that hasn't won a flag since the 90s.

You couldn't have scripted a worse result for neutrals if you tried.

Risk is a) you get him and you didn’t want him, which surely doesn’t apply here, or b) you burn a bridge, but again surely doesn’t apply to the team taking our captain in FA.

This is hardly a final four to get excited about... don't really want any of them to win it from here.

Brisbane probably my preferred option at this stage. Just imagining the amount of Vic wank coverage that Geelong/Collingwood/Hawthorn would get if they won the flag is nauseating. Not to mention the Hawks picks continuing to blow out if they win again next week.

And even the Lions are becoming a bit annoying to watch dominate - Ashcroft x2, Fletcher chopping up for them tonight, and set to bring in more top line academy prospects, + Allen and Draper for peanuts this off-season.

I get that but clubs with the number 1 pick are reticent to bid as their player misses the $10k bonus and all the accolades that come with being the first player selected.

The two Queensland teams just played each other in a final. Equalisation isn't working but equalisation isn't the AFL's goal either. I'd say the AFL are pretty happy with how things have turned out.

The picks don't matter. The cost does. The northern clubs have created an economy that everyone else has been complicit in and benefitted from. But there shouldn't be any discounts for priority access to players.
