How would you feel if we had sid draiper or Harvey Langford instead of bo allan and we on traded hawks F1 for Baker?

That's what should have happened if we hadn't been so stupid to trade pick 3
Too early to tell where Bo Allan sits career wise alongside those two. Right now, nowhere near Langford and behind Draper, but he was injured and missed most of 2025.
While you can't predict career ending injuries, right now he's tracking to be at least a solid AFL player of the 150+ game variety.

Plus your scenario is missing a player.

So the comparison is actually
1. Keep pick 3 until draft night and use on Langford or Draper and lose Hawks F1 for Baker (and don't get Allan or use H F1), vs. ...
2. Trade pick 3 for Baker + Allan and keep Hawks F1 for a player TBA.

cheers, our request for 4 rookie spots would be huge for getting our NGA prospects like you mention.
Hope the rookie spots are for more than 1 year, 3 would be reasonable as if we get and end of 1st round pick 19 would be less than half of what NM got recently.
Sounds like we have asked for more than we expected and the VAFL are seemingly trying to meet in the middle.
Tbh the 4 extra rookie list spots would be a massive help even if we don't get any extra picks.
Would mean we can draft 4-5 in the ND and go after some trade/FA targets without having to pay out contracted players to make room. We will need players to delist next year anyway. Might give Coen a reprieve for another year. If BBBW & Flynn go down, I'd trust him more as a main ruck ahead of Barnett. Jack Williams and Archer Reid more likely as a 2nd ruck.

Any sanfl watchers share how Kieran Strachan went this year? Delisted FA worth a look? I refuse to accept were going back to the well with what we had this year

Injury issues, doesn’t move the needle much from Flynn and similar age. Will be watching the GCS delistings though. Lachie Smith from the dogs was the one we should have gone hard at before he extended.

He's staying on at the Crows as AFLW coach...and is 30.

We appear highly likely to go back to the well with our Flynn and Bailey buckets, complete with holes.

Bombers are gonna make a play for pick 1 or 2 for either Duursma or CDT, no question about that. They are massive fans of both.

With the potential draft hand they might end up with, they might just overpay to get both picks.

Duursma is going pick 1, CDT noise at 2 is likely to push them to make a play.

Simple mind games.

I believe the club is showing strong interest in Claremont mature age defender Max Minear. Been reported a few times in the west. Has meetings with both WCE and Collingwood in coming weeks.

24 years old and a great size for a KPD. Pretty raw in terms of footy and unsure how he would go at the next level!

MID-YEAR EAGLE CLOSE TO DEAL

WEST Coast is close to confirming a multi-year contract extension for mid-year addition Tom McCarthy as the club prepares to turn over at least nine list positions this year.

Exciting small forward Malakai Champion is also expected to secure a one-year deal for 2026 after showing promise in his first season as a Next Generation Academy product and making his debut in round 17.

McCarthy's emergence in the second half of the season was arguably the biggest positive to come out of the Eagles' one-win season, alongside the exciting form of young key forward Jobe Shanahan.

Recruited with the first pick in the Telstra AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, McCarthy signed an initial 18-month contract through to the end of 2026, but recent talks have progressed well and he is set to add at least two years on top of that deal.

It is reward for a brilliant introduction to the AFL in 2025, with McCarthy winning 31 disposals on debut in round 14 and playing 10 straight games for the Eagles.

The former Richmond VFL player slotted in seamlessly as a rebounding half-back before moving into the midfield later in the season where his ball-use and ability to apply pressure were assets.

The Eagles look set to turn over at least nine list positions as co-captain Oscar Allen (Brisbane), premiership forward Liam Ryan (St Kilda) and wingman Campbell Chesser (Carlton) seek new homes.

It is expected the club will confirm one-year extensions for small forwards Jamie Crippsand Jacob Newton, while premiership defender Tom Cole is working towards a new deal. – Nathan Schmook

That’s from the afl.com article referred to above

To answer Elite Pete ’s question re list spots we would have 7 main list spots plus the additional 4 rookie list spots spread across Cat A and B

Delisting Livingstone would give us a 5th rookie list spot and would only become necessary if we want to add all 3 NGA players - Evans, Williams and Walley

Thanks.

If we get to pre list our NGAs as rookies. (And they are happy to do that) I’d move Cripps to the rookie list so that takes care of all our rookie spots.

Leave us with 8 main list.
Ideally best case scenario.
3 or 4 trade ins. (Links but not likely Starcevich, Butler, Young, Dev)
3 or 4 high draft picks (Duursma, Sharp, Lindsay/Farrow for me and if we have one later Curtin)
1 x F/S Banfield

Dev just isn't AFL quality.
Honestly, I don't know what people see in him.

He's poorly skilled and makes bad decisions.

He'd be a good WAFL player.
Mr15 possessions, once in 5 years special, come on down.

He's going to make Reece Conca look like a superstar.

Enjoy Dev the useless plodder.

I tend to agree. Nothing I have seen from him makes me think he is worth a list spot. Even at our rabble.

I realise he is well down the pecking order due to Brissie's abundance of elite mids, but even serviceable AFL mids find themselves a regular spot on the half forward or half back lines. He's played 6 games in 2 years.

I'm pretty sure he peaked when he had his jumper ripped off that one time and all the ladies were frothin.
Gee

Even i didn't realise he was that much of a crab.

What a dumb F.
