I'm seriously getting sick of these holding the ball interpretations

Take possession, tackled immediately and don't get a disposal is a free kick

But take possession, take a couple of steps and ball comes out via non-legal disposal and it's play on

It's really hard to get behind this new rule

I think we did irrepairable damage to Essendon. They were undefeated going into our game, but lost to us by 5 goals, then 52 points against the Saints, and currently are down 31-0 at half time against Freo.

That deliberate free that led to our winning goal was hot garbage but I’ll take it. Back in the season.

It an interesting decision, but after the holding free paid against us in Ports forward line when we didn't get the same frees up our end, I'll take a dodgy free kick going our way

Such an impressive win from the ladies. Thought the ump was going to square up for that howler we got in the goal square at the end.

We dug deep and I’m very happy with how we went. Pres sensational again. She’s dominating at the moment. Love having Dunlop in the ruck, she’s such a great contributor in the contest and very strong core and doesn’t get knocked over.

And love the inconsistency with holding the ball still

Holding free against Kearns just inside Ports 50

The incoming kick came off hands, Port player takes possession, is tackled and then pushes the ball out - can't work out how it wasn't a holding the ball or incorrect disposal free

And pretty sure that Kenny should have received a 50m penalty - took a mark on our 50m arc, her opponent stands the mark before another Port player came in to stand in front and created her own new mark
Saw that too - clear 50m

Love this, but can’t get behind you on Dunlop. Thought she was poor, smashed by her direct opponent, moved off ball way too easy for her size and stands still after first effort; Harry Madden gave a stronger second effort in the last two years of his career than she is now at the beginning of hers. Needs to get fitter, not sure this league can carry lumbering rucks

Hope you loved that one Kurdas! That lady is so unprofessional in her bias against Cats from the commentary box; virtually barracking for Port at the end. AFLW deserves better going forward. I have no knowledge of this, but it’s almost like she went for a coaching job at Geelong and missed out, the way she treats us. Great win from the girls. Prez is a star; cleanest and smoothest player in the league at the moment. Should have smashed them if we could convert early

AFLW Coaches Votes

Mikayla Bowen has continued her extraordinary start to the year, receiving 10 coaches votes for her strong performance against Port Adelaide on Saturday.

Collecting 25 disposals, six score involvements and five intercept possessions, Bowen's forward pressure was a telling factor, laying eight tackles inside 50 to cap off a dominant display at Alberton Oval.

Georgie Prespakis maintained her position in second spot on the overall leaderboard, receiving eight votes in Round 6 to take her season tally to 49 votes, quite a remarkable feat considering 60 votes is the most a player can have to this point of the year.

The star midfielder finished the match with 24 disposals, six clearances and seven score involvements, helping Geelong to secure their third consecutive win.

Nina Morrison (18 disposals, two goals) and Jackie Parry (19 disposals, one goal) both received four votes in Round 6, taking their season tallies to 12 and 19 votes respectively.

Every week, the two senior coaches for each game give votes on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis, meaning 10 votes is the maximum a player can receive in each round.

The player with the most votes at the end of the home-and-away season will win the Sharp EIT Solutions AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

I'm really liking the direction we've taken with team selection over the past month

With two forced changes this week it would have been a somewhat easier option to bring back Meg, especially with losing Kilpatrick from defence, but we've resisted and am backing in the younger players to continue getting the job done

I know Darby is a veteran, but I see her selection as a direct swap with Featherston and being one to provide support to Dunlop in the ruck - I'm not sure we've got as much from Gabbi this season as last season, and maybe just a little lost in her role

With Darby's return it will likely mean that those situations where we've seen Parry drop back behind the ball late in quarters could be shared between both of them, allowing us to keep a tall in our forward line for any counter attack situations
