These pointless exhibition matches are a desperate attempt to create more value for the next deal. I think the next deal will not be as glamorous as the last, probably making Dillon nervous.
They should partner with a charity to make it a fundraiser for a good cause... give it some reason to exist other than the very likely reason you provided.

How much footy content do people want. We have 24 rd season. 4 weeks of finals. 4 weeks of trade and draft. 4 weeks of preseason stuff.

I’d like to know what data the AFL has to demonstrate that what people REALLY want is a frothy pointless exhibition match in February.

They’d be better of devising a modified preseason competition where the winner gets pick 25 in the next years draft or something.
When do we finally get the chance to defend our glorious, magnificent AFL X premiership? The trophy has been gathering dust, the legacy is waiting. Bring back the chaos, the flair, and the fast footy. We’ve got unfinished business.

Vic media bias

Seriously, how on earth could you leave out the Raging Bull in Cam Rayner for the likes of Petracca and then Dangerfield of all people.

I guess better yet, the fewer of our players that play the better really - but still.

I predict there is one tight hammy in that list

I think Hugh's knee, no better still, his big toe better become so sore he can't play!

Hugh: "I'm so sorry fella's, I'm devastated I can't play, can't walk let alone run but you play well without me..."

"...hey Bez, what time is training tomorrow? A 10k time trial you say, no probs! la la laa la la"

100% agree. Especially as a south Aussie whos state would get smashed constantly
As a West Aussie I feel the same. I'm not sure even the Vics would be that keen to watch their players beating up on the other states in most matches. I saw that they proposed two hypothetical teams for WA vs Vic. Vic's midfield including wings and guys who could/would rotate through the middle consisted of:
C: Clugg Daicos Holmes
Foll: Gawn Butters Bont
Int: Rowell Anderson Serong

Ed Richards playing of a HBF
Bailey Smith and Petracca named on HFFs

Compare that two WA's
C: Cognilio Warner Baker
Foll:Cameron Cripps Jackson
Int: Yeo and Curtin

Bolton and Pickett named on HFFs.

I couldn't imagine any state at the moment who's midfield could compete well enough with the Vics to make a game of it.

This.

SA v WA
QLD v NSW.
Territory v Tassie

Potential of QLD v NSW is kids growing up thinking, I can play AFL, and play Origin.

This is a really good idea!
I’d actually be interested in watching all of those games.
The problem is when could they be scheduled?
Pre season? Mid season? Pre finals bye excluding finalists?
Each slot has its own problems.
How does rugby league schedule their state origin?

How does rugby league schedule their state origin?
In the middle of the season when every player is at their peak.
It's also a big indicator of who will get an Australian jumper at years end.
So, every player is up for a huge contest. That's why the crowd numbers and TV ratings are big.

Unlike the micky mouse idea that is the AFL proposal

Have a SOO weekend mid season. AFl has a bye - all players in SOO have a game off in the 3 before or after.

Imagine , under the dome, Vic city v Country on Friday night. Would be at the MCG in a few years.

The door stopping by SA media of Crows players who have literally been sacked is pretty cringe. This is today's version after Lachie Murphy yetserday:

Wow that's rough. Strachan handled that really well but so shit they put him through that and kept going

Darcy Gardiner turning 30 years old today, maybe now the Pies would consider him as a rookie selection if he was on the market.

Interesting that the media are portraying us along with Hawks, Csts, and Pies as though we have been the big four since 2001 ... somehow all those years of rapine and pillage and comparisons to late stage Fitzroy and doom incarnate and how little on field assistance we were given have been memory holed.

I have so many questions

Years ago had the privilege of escorting the BGV suit to a NEAFL (may even had been QAFL?) game at Broadbeach, where the clubs had arranged between themselves to have a Bernie wearer and giveaways for the kiddies and the like. Of course, when we got there nothing at all had been organised so Bernie went straight back into hibernation in our boot.

And no, I didn't fit before anyone asks.

more likely, the suit doesn't work with a flat-cap.

Were you more Oba sized?
