From this morning's Age. Kangaroos4eva called this a storm in a teacup on the main board, which I reckon is about right.

Jy Simpkin (North Melbourne): There has been no trade request from the Kangaroos’ skipper despite acknowledgment he expressed disappointment he had been pushed out of the midfield to play on a wing. Clubs know he is open to a possible move, but there has been little action on that front.

It appears he's looked around. He'd look a bit silly asking for a trade before a club was willing to take his contract and guarantee him a full time midfield role.

Sensationalized or not.
he a ) Never came out and refuted it, not even a "Love this club" on insta
b ) removed mentions of the club and captaincy from socials.

It's not complete "didn't happen", there's something deeper there than had a sook in a meeting about midfield minutes.

The silence was deafening from both sides.

Could’ve very easily made a media appearance and denied the rumours, didn’t happen by either side and it was left to rot.

Let’s be honest you would think if an offer dropped on our table that is or was satisfactory he would be out the door faster than an opposition rebound from our forward line, and that’s pretty quick lol

Perfect! He can relinquish the captaincy. I think he'll make a great winger.

Just hope he cops it, and goes hard. It doesnt seem like he has burnt any bridges with the club and players.

Modern winger with his pace?

I must find this situation more tenable than most. He sure as hell won't be captain, but he could easily turn up, smoke pre season (by North standards), swallow his pride, and be a solid player next year. This keenness on getting him out is silly imo. We don't have someone better than him in the role he plays, and no non basket case team would benefit from him any more than we do

It's the most likely scenario in reality.

As captain, shopping himself leaves a bit to be desired from a lot of supporters point of view (mine included), but his teammates will likely be more understanding as some will be, and probably have been, in the same situation.

There's another side to this, unless he cleans up his foot skills there's every chance he gets pushed out of the wing or hhf spot also, it's a spot where clangers are unacceptable.
O'Sullivan, McKercher, Stephens, Harvey, Goater, Hardeman, Hansen Jnr even George has been earmarked for training on the wing during the preseason. All of them have superior foot skills which makes for some interesting conversation in 18 months time.
I can see why Jy is pushing for more midfield time, as his work in close is incredible, he has a fantastic sidestep and it mitigates his weaknesses above.
