They systematically cheated the salary cap and they introduced the grappling/wrestling defensive style that required multiple rule changes to open up the game again. These are just facts.

Still respect Craig Bellamy and lament that the Raiders were too stupid to bring him on board when we had the chance. But it’s amusing that things that Hawthorn supporters rightly call out other clubs on (Carlton and cap cheating, Essendon and systematic cheating, Sydney implementing an unwatchable game style under Roos) are things the Storm have also done.

I know very little about NRL. But I work with someone who used to work for Melbourne Storm some years ago, as a side gig. He helped players with running / athleticism side of things.

Back then Geelong's rorting of the cap was the worst kept secret around the traps. GAJ was essentially forced to go to GCS by the AFL to get Geelong back under.

On a side note - he may have been responsible for Dylan Moore getting drafted by us, and at the least he greatly contributed to it, but that's another story.

So the bronco’s and the panthers battle it out shortly in the second nrl prelim, two days after the first one.
That’s a ridiculous advantage for the storm, can’t understand why they didn’t play this game last night.
Imagine the uproar in the AFL world if this happened in our code.

Its the one weird thing about the nrl. They are afraid to piggy back off other events.

Thankfully the storm have embraced other sports and grown their brand

Yes, but in our code you need to be fit. You don't grab the ball and run 3 m straight at a bloke and then stop.

The NRL, particularly under V'Landys, lets the AFL live rent free in their head for some reason. V'Landys had to throw shots at the AFL entertainment when announcing theirs - mate you're a grown ass adult, act like one. He's also one of these demented sods who live their life with the Sydney v Melbourne thing as if it's a real thing not just a bit of banter.

Don’t forget Sydney’s most famous race, the Everest.Better to have 20 mill prize money than over 125 year history.

Do players get paid a higher wage per game in finals & grand final?
Or does the standard fee apply with bonuses written into contracts?

I thought they get paid a flat rate for the season, finals or not, with bonuses for playing a given number of games? GF winners definitely get cash bonuses though, but not sure if/what other finals teams get.

Think it just counts towards match payments as per normal - however both grand finalists get prize money which I think can be distributed to the players and don’t impact the salary cap.

It's always been like that, NRL and it's fans have always had an inferiority complex and can't help themselves trying to shit on the AFL.

They think AFL and it's fans are the same and want to consider them as relevant, it's like North Melbourne trying to start a rivalry with Collingwood.

They just don't realize that we don't give a toss about them at all.

Oh okay, so you would prefer to not be in a position to lose a GF over winning one because you left it all out on the park the week before. :drunk::drunk:

Man I'm glad you're on here and not out on the field playing for us.

Really endearing yourself to people since joining up, hey mate? Did your parents cut off your Roblox account and you're bored on your holidays now?

Anyone who trots out "they played their GF against us" as a reason why they lost the GF, so suck sh!T to them, should go watch the 1987 finals series, and then have the balls to tell the 87 Hawks players they should not have bothered to make it to the GF.

Its a poor way of coping.

I'm loving how they lost and wish it on them every year, but i would have preferred if we played our GF against them and made the GF. I'm sure the Crows board is saying the same thing about us, that we played our GF against them. Its so stupid it beggers belief.
Yeah maybe man, but also how could you possibly care this much about it?

Doesn’t look like I said any of that. Assuming can make us look silly.

Your gripe with Geelong and proof of a horrible club culture is their decision to wear sunglasses on an overcast day?

The nerdling Whateley officially decreed on SEN this morning that you must win three in a row to be considered a dynasty

So he doesn’t consider his Geelong team as a dynasty from 07 to 11?

I consider a team competing for a sustained period is considered a dynasty. Us from 83 to 91. 5 premierships, 8 grand finals and 10 final appearances.

Geelong 07 to 2013. 3 premierships 4 grand finals. 7 finals appearances.

Richmond 2017 to 2020 3 premierships, 3 3 grand finals 4 finals appearances.

Brisbane has played consecutive finals since 2019. For 2 premierships, 3 grand finals. So if they are not quite a dynasty, they are certainly close.

Have deliberately left both Lions from 01-04, as well as us from 2013-2015. As nerdy boy classes them as dynasty’s.

Since when did any of us take seriously anything that pops out of a muppet like Whateley's mouth? :grinv1:
