ok - I’m late to the party this year. I see Cal Twomey has 9 SA boys in his top 30 prospects. Do we believe this?
I don't see why not. The real issue has been the ceiling of SA players over recent years.
Not many have gone on to be elite players.

Since 2015, 10 years on.

JHF
Rankine
Thilthorpe
Rozee
Dawson

I'd add Bailey, Stengle, Pickett, Day and maybe Wilkie (he was AA). Not a heap, but appears most are recent at least.

We need mids so I'm going in this order of my preferred players for the Crows also bearing in mind Harley Barker is a wingman and coming off an ACL which likely sees him playing very little or no footy in 2026. All should be available with our range of picks I think other than perhaps Barker.

1. Riley Onley
2. Fred Rodriguez
3. Talor Byrne
4. Harley Barker
5. Liam Hetherton
6. Jett Dahlitz
Where do you think Barker would sit with no injuries, and now?

No idea, that's up to the recruiters now who have seen his medicals and have all the information at their disposal. Probably nudging the top 10 before the ACL so I guess we'll all find out draft night how much loading recruiters put on the ACL.

I don’t think we have the list space to do so do we?

Assuming we get Ah Chee we only have a couple of spots left unless we delist someone else before the draft.
Sounds like we have to delist someone to have minimum 3 draftees, so I'll correct myself.

Sholl/Jones delist and drop to rookie list (only one spot free).

Which means Stevens would have to be our third pick if we take him.

Never met Chris Cavanagh but he is one in the media that watches a lot of U18'S footy unlike some other.
I just like to keep it real at this point when there seems to be a draft order pretty close to established.
Not much point getting excited about players that we have no chance of drafting like Dylan Patterson who is easily the most exciting X factor player in this draft with his fearless dynamism.

Given I think we should probably go with a midfielder with our 1st, for that reason I'm looking at mids I think we have a genuine chance of actually drafting.

My order of preference
1. Riley Onley
2. Fred Rodriguez
3. Blake Oudshoon-Bennier.

Of course if we go best available at our 1st pick that may not necessarily be a midfielder.

My personal favourite of course is Rebels small pressure forward Talor Byrne and I'd be doing cartwheels if Hamish calls his number.

My smokey is athletic tall forward Liam Hetherton who has flown way way under the radar due to injury a Murray Bushranger teammate of Riley Onley.

Edit: attempting cartwheels..😁

EDPS put up his player teirs today. Looking at this, if we did a bit of manouvering to improve one of our 3rds to a 2nd rounder its not impossible we could end up with a draft haul of

Barker - pick 16
Onley - 2nd round
Curtin - 3rd round

Do you guys see the tiers similar to EDPS?
That wouldn't be a bad haul, though I wan't more midfield class as well, hence why I am so big on BOB. He is a first round talent every single day of the week and forgotten about from his injury. Not sure I fully agree on the teirs he has however.

Neither do I.

As usual I’ll keep an eye on all of those boys wherever they may land if they get a start anytime next season.
No cartwheels, you’ll be ramped until preseason.

Pick the top South Australians, or get into a position in the draft to get them.

Had we gone this way we'd have Wanganeen-Milera instead of Rachele, Pickett (or Day) instead of McAsey, Rozee instead of Jones/McHenry and Will Hayward instead of Galluci over the last 10 years.

Rozee went Pick 5 in the 2018 draft well before Jones and McHenry. It was Butters that we missed that draft who evidently isn't a Croweater. We shouldn't be obsessed with South Australians unless they are stand out talents (Thlthorpe)

Well then we simply have to get Jevan Phillipou as he rates himself as the no.
1 pick.

I’m a big fan of trying to foster SA talent and the club aiming to have a distinctly South Australian character, but had we simply drafted the best available South Australian in each draft since the year 2000, we’d have waaaaay more misses than hits. The reality is that SA doesn’t produce nearly enough talent to justify such a simplistic drafting strategy.
