Still hard to believe that the club chose not to pick up a guy like Steven Mayessentially for free during this trade period.

He could have been an immediate solution to our defensive problems for the 2026 season.

Why weren’t we interested?
Why are people so worried about him? Supposedly he doesn’t get along with people that well, so what?

How fragile is our culture that it’s not expected to be able to cope with a guy like that?

Not a guy that takes drugs and gets other people onto them, not a guy who hangs out with criminals, just a guy that isn’t everyones cup of tea.🤦🏻‍♂️
Please now take any further discussion of Steven May to p.m's or to the Melbourne board. He is a contracted Melbourne player and clearly will NEVER play for the Bulldogs. I think we've all had enough of the shitfight.

Just to add, we weren't interested because he has fallen off as a defender, will further fall off next season and is a POS.

Yes, but they can play chicken with him on whether he’d rather go to (most likely) West Coast for a year through the PSD before getting back to Melbourne.

If he wants to get to his preferred club his manager needs to get on the phone to whoever takes to spoon to have them offer him a 1-year deal with a promise to trade him for a single top-10 pick the following year - it would basically be pick purchasing for the Eagles. Once that’s a credible threat the trade price drops.

It’s also important that Butters takes comfort in the fact he gave them > 12 months notice of his intention so they had the chance to do a trade this year without the FA angle and they ruled it out.
Port will talk tough but they won't do anything other then send him where he wants at the end of the day.

Melbourne supporter I work with, whose husband’s a copper, reckons he did a similar act to Noah Balta outside a bayside pub, except was smart enough to avoid being caught on camera.
Sorrento Hotel with Dion Prestia. Peninsula police definitely not fans.

Is the 2020 draft the worst of the modern era? Covid interruptions certainly didn't help but the top 10 makes for sad viewing.
  1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (traded for pick 74)
  2. Riley Thilthorpe ✔️✔️
  3. Will Phillips Delisted
  4. Logan McDonald ✔️
  5. Braeden Campbell ✔️
  6. Denver Granger-Barrass Delisted
  7. Elijah Hollands (about to be Let go from his second club with a year to go on contract)
  8. Nik Cox often injured sat out the year with concussion
  9. Archie Perkins average at best
  10. Zach Reid shows signs but often injured

It's pretty ugly.

Essendon having 3 first round picks and a whole bunch in this draft which is supposed to be average is very funny, though.

Anyone with deeper knowledge of trade rules that can comment on whether this is at all viable?

With Butters being a free agent, if Port were to finish around the bottom 4, the Band 1 compo would give a top 5 pick. What is to stop clubs from arranging for Port to not match the bid, allow him to move, then sell a player like [PLAYERCARD]Ivan Soldo[/PLAYERCARD] for two or three 1st round picks to the receiving club?

End result is Port get a massive haul of picks (more than they could otherwise have gotten), while the receiving club still pays multiple 1st rounders, but it is creating that additional early pick out of thin air, and giving a slight discount to the destination club. The winners are Port and that club. The losers are everybody else.

Given the AFL signed off on the Bowes trade, I can’t see a fair, valid excuse for them to label this draft tampering given the precedent that’s been set. Maybe someone else could explain it?

Genuinely makes you wonder why Errol Gulden was passed over a bid so many times after playing very well as a junior for what limited minutes we could see. I get the perception that he was a small, unathletic NSW kid with ties to the Swans/NSW footy community but ... even Blake Coleman (delisted 0 games) was bidded on before Gulden

This was the draft we wanted two of the Bomber's picks for Dunkley hey?

Gulden is the one that changed the way I evaluate draftees. Most recruiters seen his height and the fact his best position was midfield and baulked before looking at the things he did exceptionally well. It did happen to be around the same time the game shifted away from favouring the big bull inside mids like Cripps and Oliver though so that helped.

Has Coffield been delisted yet? Has to be one of our worst recent pickups like I'd honestly rather see [PLAYERCARD]Tim O'brien[/PLAYERCARD] back than Coffield playing again. Doesn't even look up to VFL level. What's he actually good at now except getting injured?
Makes no sense keeping him over JJ. There's not much backup for halfbacks like Dale and Bramble but there's probably half a dozen medium defenders I'd rather have in the team than Coffield. Reckon even Poulter could play better as a medium defender. He at least looked good at VFL level sometimes

No, they were offering a 2020 first and 2021 second, we wanted the opposite
The 2021 first they refused to offer up - the just delisted Ben Hobbs
It's impressive how they constantly find new ways to **** up list management

Inside information :Sam Darcy Linked with hawthorn, could be a mega deal that could look at up to 10 million over 4 years. Just though you guys should know.
P.s. Buku still wants out.

Cool story mate. Dogs offering 10 year deals to Judds boys already. Tasmanian recruiter told me

I don't think McDonald nor Campbell are ticks either,

Campbell slowly turning into an average role player similar to Perkins and McDonald has a lot of Schache about him for mine

11-26 isn't much better reading either (first round)

11. Luke Pedlar (39 games)
12. Tanner Bruhn (66 games) (legally will just say yikes)
13. Tom Powell (91 games)
14. Heath Chapman (65 games)
15. Connor Stone (20 games)
16. Lachie Jones (60 games) (should be delisted soon)
17. Oliver Henry (85 games) (Very much on the outer now)
18. Ryan Angwin (30 games)
19. Finlay Mcrae (21 games Delisted)
20. Max Holmes (102 Games) Only other genuine star of the 1st round
21. Jake Bowey (84 games) Great little role player
22. Bailey Laurie (12 game career)
23. Reef McInnes (23 game career)
24. Blake Coleman (0 games delisted)
25. Brayden Cook (26 games)
26. Matthew McLeod-Allison (0 games delisted)

Take out Bowey/Holmes/Powell/Henry that is 362 games from the remaining 12 wit 3 of them delisted 2 of which never played a game

Lachie Jones should be delisted? Dude is turning into a fantastic role player. Extremely strong lockdown small defender, he’s better than Budarick who we just recruited

Gulden is such a star. I’d say draft value wise the only two I’d say are worth more are Daicos and Darcy.

Thought it was hilarious that Cornes said Swans should trade him for Curnow. That would be an all time bad trade for the Swans.

Heard we’ve been offering 5 yr deals to the sperm of every good fullback in the league.

P155 off Hawthorn troll (not you Bonty)
