No chance wc bid on him essendon wouldn't be stupid enough as they have future fs coming and will would surely have a hand shake agreement with them and some other clubs not to bid on each other's fs
Only winners are Brisbane and gc again as the afl would love #corruptAFL

How likely is Harry Dean to get a bid at pick 2?
I wouldn't have thought the Weagles were serious, but if the horse trading this year is any guide, some clubs are willing to do almost anything to be considered relevant.
Selecting Dean could backfire on them hugely; compare it to Jason Horne Francis spitting the dummy at North. But are they willing to face the consequences? Because there will be some, not just losing a top player for relatively little.
Could Dean simply refuse to play for the Weagles? That would be an interesting test case.

Sorry to intrude but could it be in Carltons best interest to trade for pick 2 and match a bid for Dean with later picks?

Example.
Future 1st, pick 9 pick 11 for pick 2, pick 13, pick 34 and pick 41.

Depends.
No chance we trade 26 F1s.
But for a 27 F1, and threatened with a bid at 2, I reckon we take it.

Ideally the Eagles would make at least 2 bids on Suns/Lions players before the trade.

if they do bid at pick 2, and it is pick 2–i.e. it’s not pick 5 because they’ve bidded on Uwland, Patterson and Annable (which would be a dick move by the way if they only went for Dean and not the other three)—then 9 and 11 would become at pick in the mid 30s. We’d have Ison covered. But no Lindsay, Dovaston etc.

Don’t think he would refuse to play- well hope note as he should still have the career he probably desperately wants

But would be a monumental **** up on wce behalf - go home risk would be high, obvious that he was picked to try to pressure on Carlton, not because they actually wanted Dean…

If they really wanted him they should be looking to trade 2 and 13 with say Melbourne as Dean would still likely be available and they get a better kid with their next pick.

My rankings are as such, keeping in mind they're vastly different to how I expect the draft will actually play out/be ranked by experts. Not as big a fan of CDT as others that's for sure.

1- Willem Duursma
2 - Sullivan Robey
3 - Zeke Uwland
4 - Sam Cumming
5 - Dan Annable
6 - Harry Dean
7 - Aiden Schubert
8 - Cooper Duff-Tytler
9 - Dylan Patterson
10 - Josh Lindsay
11 - Sam Grlj
12 - Noah Hibbins Hargreaves
13 - Xavier Taylor
14 - Dyson Sharp
15 - Jack Ison
16 - Jacob Farrow
17 - Louis Emmett
18 - Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier
19 - Mitch Marsh
20 - Lachie Dovaston
Not far off Walshy, Schubert still a bit high for me along with Lindsey, like your rankings, rate NH-H before both 👍

And Westcoasts pick 13 gets bumped up 2 spots. Can see the incentive.

What about Sydney's 2026 future first which you have? West coast probably wouldn't do that though.

Trading Future 1st, pick 9 pick 11 for pick 2, pick 13, pick 34 and pick 41.
Would allow you to get the 2nd best player in the draft and Dean - that's 2 top 10 picks. Which is a big win. And before the bid for Dean carlton would trade pick 13 for more points, and still be able to use multiple 2nd round picks.

If it was Carlton's 2026f1 what else would you want back from west coast, if anything.

We need to keep both 26 1sts for Cody Walker.

That doesn’t work though because we would just match at Melbourne’s pick.
Also Dean isn’t going to be in love with us if we don’t match a bid when we can easily do so.

It’s sucks that we are in a position where clubs can take away our advantage of a FS but Dean is still the exact type we need so we aren’t going to stuff him around.
Personally I think we just give up on this draft and focus on points so we don’t go into deficit and future picks.

This is obviously a tactic to get us to trade with the eagles in some way or fashion
Possibly, also the media could be losing the telephone game and we're already in preliminary talks.
Could be, but these comments on Dean going top 5 have been going on a lot longer than we've had picks we could trade up with.
Clubland has known we were losing players for a long, long while.
Without the academy kids Jim, interested in your order of choice before Dean…
Keeping in mind I would have Patterson 1, Uwland 2, and Annable 5 in the actual draft...

1. Sharp
2. Robey
3. Duursma
4. Cumming
5. CDT
6. Marsh
7. Taylor
8. Greeves
9. Grlj
10. Dean

I think we need Sunny Lappin.
I hope she nominates us.
My gut feeling says Gold Coast though.
Skinny has left the Suns and has apparently sold the family home. I suspect he’s Melbourne bound.

From what I’ve seen I think he’s defs top 5 in the draft. Not far off
Not happening. Later top 10, maybe sliding to 15 at the most. Melbourne is possibly the biggest risk, they need a young defender.
