Gibcus would have to lose a leg to get delisted. He is a prodigious talent. The club is in no rush, its aim will be getting the bulk of its next flag team together by 2028. Dave Astbury for eg played 23 games in a 5 season span 2011-2015 to take him to 6 years on the list. He then became a cornerstone of defence in 3 flags for us. Gibcus is just 4 seasons deep in his career. Richmond will stick with him as long as it takes to be certain he will or won't make it.

No doubt both Gibcus and Judson have hurt us and our team development,because both should have a position locked down.
So hope the frustrating period is going to clear for Josh and us.

that 2021 group featured debuts in 2022. Banks, Brown playing good/ok football
Clarke got a few games, Sonz played well too. Gibcus played a lot. We went tall bringing in Tarant too. Miller started getting games too.

Miller came on, Young was a find ~ to the extent Balta had to play forward.

Meehan was the shocker and all these players suffered. The ACL plague has stopped. Young played good footy after his.

Still too much injury but mostly soft tissue.

If we delisted all our young defenders who played a similar amount of games as Gibcus in their first few years we would have cut Astbury, Rance and Grimes

Agree. We need a group of peak performance around 50-100 games during a flag window. If Gibcus doesn't become a 250 gamer so be it, if he's a gun for 150 when we're contending ill take some early setbacks.

He played on Buddy and did relatively well against him for a first year defender. Even Biddy mentioned last game that Gibcus was one of the better first year defenders he played against.
