Long bow though. Blakey the only one that stiffed us.

We're masters at ending the careers of fathers who end up with talented offspring a season or two early, though, I'll say that much
Blakey? We saved him from a shitful existence at Whitten Oval? What are you about? He paid us back with 5 possessions in the 1994 Prelim, 5. And had 6 goals kicked on him in the 1998 granny. He then has a decent kid (who's a ****ing ugly ****) and he plays for our enemy. Persona non gratis for mine.

Buckley? Benny a NMFC VC, good player who was unlucky with injury and timing. Why didn't he call us and ask for us to draft his boy?

Kelly!? Hardly unlucky or poor management that his Dad always had hammy issues and didn't get to 100 games. Just horrible luck, at least we had a few cracks.

I reckon you've had a few tonight, mate. Second post from you I'm struggling to decipher. Maybe I'm the problem.

I bear more ill will towards the umps and our accuracy in the second third quarter, respectively, fwiw

No, like all mistakes, you only hear about them in hindsight. Or they'd be classified as fixable-errors.

The question was spelt out, I answered it pretty well as this shit is a bit of a hobby horse of mine.

Eddie Sansbury played ~50 games for the Kangaroopoos, it's reasonably relevant when discussing NMFC father sons, given he is the biological father of a serious footballer (NWM).

I see what you are doing now, moving the goal posts to father sons who qualified for the Kangaroopoos, rather than actual NMFC players who had sons (who are good).

We've been shit at many things, but allowing our best father sons to be aligned with other clubs is as piss poor as I can remember. We didn't learn from Blakey, so we allow more through to the keeper. It's unfathomable.

Are we allergic to picking up the ****ing phone?
NWM isn't as silly a whine as it would seem.

If Chris Dawes had an illegitimate draft gun son Collingwood would make the emotional link to their football program impassable.

Ha ha yeah you are probably right but i still struggle with us counting him as a missed FF but I've been wrong plenty of times this is obviously one of those occasions in some peoples view.

Obviously.

I can't drink, didn't like it anyway (bar nice reds) after being a 4 Day a Weeker 18-28, basically. I'll re-read, but it's probably you haha

I don't blame Blakey, not one bit (for 1994) but 1998 a little bit when you factor in the recent history. Norf people look after Norf. He didn't, despite us giving up Super Johnny Mac for this over hill, Fitzroy reject with the long-necked son.

Facts.

Exactly this. Blakey would be a Corringwood player if Johnny had been a Woodsman. There's nothing more certain.

The Blakey case is obvious. Even Kelly given he was injured so often can be a cause of regret.

I was amazed Sansbury actually played that many games. I would have guessed 20. And the vast majority were legitimately shit. Not even worth getting worked up over.

Would have been nice to get Buckley jnr as a rookie given the old man was president. But there's no games played connection there.

Nah it's a more tenuous link but I do think a Collingwood, Geelong or * would've drummed up so much noise in a similar situation the player would just find their way to their "father's" club.

That's probably fair enough.

They're definitely more willing to pull the strings, and if the strings aren't initially there to be pulled, find them and then pull them

Without knowing all the facts etc, doesn't sound like he is that close to NWM in any case. I reckon it would have been worse if he played 100 and we got knocked back for f/s.

Labouring the point - Kevin Sheehan and Mick Ablett on draft night:

"Ha and so the very talented Nathan Wanganwen-Milera makes it all the way through to the bombers at pick 15. The feel good story of the draft.

Wonder if all the talk about his Essendon bloodlines leading into the draft played a part in scaring other clubs off haha?

It was unfortunate he picked up that calf complaint mid-year before the champs but he'd shown plenty before that and the Bombers have picked themselves up a real beauty."

Yeah dunno, I recall a year I thought he looked ok. So I took a look.
You are absolutely correct, nothing jumps of the page, but old mate told me Laidley ****en hated him, and ****ed him over. I actually thought he had something.

His lack of awareness was startling. A mate of mine used to question how he never got run over crossing the road.

Spargo is coming off a bad Achilles (2024) and shoulder fracture/ripped biceps tendon/soft tissue damage (2025). His body reflects those setbacks. He really needs an injury free run in preseason to get into better shape. We took that risk because if healthy he brings a combination of defensive pressure and accurate inside 50 kicking that we need. I hope we get lucky, he stays fit and gets back towards his early career best.

He is the key to unlocking this whole team.

Apparently his father has had the keys to the weights room this whole time.

Brayden George is coming off a knee in 2023, a knee in 2024, and a shoulder which he didn't get out of a sling until September. What does his body reflect?
