Leave the game alone FFS!

7 rule changes:-
  • Goalsquare starting positions
  • Last disposal rules
  • Centre ball-up contests
  • Aligned kick-in times
  • Ruck nominations
  • Shrugging in the tackle
  • The stand rule

I agree; leave the game alone. The constant changing of rules leads to confusion for everyone: umpires, players, and fans. No other code does this. I can't keep up with it any longer; it's ridiculous and unnecessary

You just know they will change a rule during the season.

Every time there's a new executive general manager of the AFL they changed some rules. It's like that when I put their own stamp on the game.

The shrug rule will be a disaster. A player protects himself from head high tackles and is deemed to be holding the ball. That is flowering crazy. The dropping of the knees and head to receive a free kick is the one they need to stamp out. Just ludicrous.

The stand rule is truly embarrassing to have to highlight such changes. The umpires have once again NOT done their job. Coaches have taken them for a ride. That goes for centre bounce rucking. How they can let rucks impeded oppositions run and not be penalised is just wrong.

Yet here we are again.......

That’s not quite true, the NRL are just as useless at it. The 20/40 is still one of the most stupid rules thought up.

That doesn’t forgive the AFL for their nonsense of course.

So. Brave.

The absolute facepalm of the AFL putting out a statement that they are going to release the 2026 fixture next week. How excited do they think we are? 😂

This is about money and the AFL dominating another weekend.

Gather Round, Opening Round, and now Wildcard Weekend, all are about money and dominating the sporting landscape.

Who asked for this? Yet to hear anyone that likes the idea.
It pretty much shows that there is no longer an AFL Competition; it's just a carefully managed and promoted series of events to enrich people.

Keeps teams in the season for longer. Means less dead rubbers, and pretty much just extends the home and away season for one extra week. How is this not a great idea?

Dillon and Co are such **** ups.

The joke that keeps on giving. Utterly ridiculous. Between this, opening round and all the rule changes, this leadership collective is running the game into the ground.

Sydney (10th) finished 12 points off 8th and would get a crack at making the finals. Competition is just a money-grabbing joke.

Because if you're not good enough to make the top 8 over 21/22 games, you shouldn't be given a second chance draw card imo.

Why is 8 the number? Why not 4? Or 2? If you’re not good enough to make the grand final, why should you be given a chance?
