List Mgmt. Welcome Sam Allen (Pick 29, 2025 National Draft)

Love this pick, has a lot of talent and with his athletic profile can see him being rewarded with a debut next year.
He has a very Buckleyish head mind you

Yeah, looks an explosive zippy type and traditionally they don't come back the same way after an ACL.

Looking forward to getting a timeline on him. Straight to the rehab group I guess.
Back playing in the first half of next season, Clarke said.

Probably a decent example of a young player returning well from an ACL in his draft year is Taj Hotton. Looked to retain all his athleticism when he debuted.

Sam looks like a great pick. He looks to have some “no nonsense” in his eyes. Like who needs to be ready to take out an opponent discussion at half time.

No idea when he is back. Here's a interview he did recently.

Fantastic interview, speaks very well.
Very level headed and confident about his abilities.
Spoke about Mini interviewing him at 15:18.

With his acl, he's coming from a long way back missing back half of 2025 and likely preseason. Feel like any footy he plays next year we shouldn't use to assess him, 2027 will be the year we can see what this guy has got.
Be patient

Looks like a good prospect. He's super young so hopefully he can heal up and get back to his best.

Will be interesting to see which position he settles in. Wing is the obvious one but the modern day high half forward could be his go too with his running power and ability overhead. Maybe [PLAYERCARD]Dylan Moore[/PLAYERCARD] style without the punchable head.

I would’ve been happy if we’d taken Barker coming of an ACL so no issues with us doing the same with this young fella with a later pick

Looks like he has some good traits that will be important for us and may well have gone higher in the draft had he not done his knee

Club captain so obviously another player of good character as well

The ACL injury was in May so hopefully he’s ready to start playing a few games into the WAFL season which normally starts the beginning of April

Welcome Sam to the nest..
Get the body right and then power your way into the side

Better be good

Not his fault at all so right behind him but effectively cost us Banfield (due to our list managements incompetence)
What makes you so competent to judge our list management as incompetent ?
Our recruiting and list management team obviously had a list of players that they rated that would fill the clubs needs now and into the future and would also fit in well with Minis game plan. I'm disappointed we didn't take F-Rod.

I mean theres about 1000 pages of explanation in the draft thread that we quite easily could've created an extra list spot and not put ourselves in the situation where we couldn't match

Will admit I posted that in a hissy fit of rage as soon as Banfield was picked by the Saints, have calmed down now and while still disappointed have come to realise that it wasn't necessarily incompetence, it was simply we didn't rate Banfield or Evans

Remains to be seen whether thats the right call, but all behind this kid now hes in blue and gold

Yes they do. They take time though. Preseason running and rehab into WAFL later in the year. Then full preseason again and should be cherry ripe.
