On a day where batsmen on both sides were disgraceful, especially ours, Boland's 0/60 at 6 an over was a big difference. Never seen him ever perform like that. Suppose he is 36 and you just can't keep playing a team of pensioners. Some go well, eg Starc, Smith, but there's too many.

Its sad when a sportsperson goes on way too long past when they should have retired. It just takes the gloss off their career and achievements.

Usman entered that territory a while ago.

Our top order looked very ordinary facing 145km +. Steve Smith looked great against Victoria while his NSW teammates crumbled around him against Vic last week. Not so today - he struggled. Hats off to England's 5 pronged pace battery. Going to be a real handful if they all stay fit.

Bingo.

You get one bowler going at 145k + & everyone loses their marbles.

This England side has 4.

Aussies copped some serious heat today, & they weren’t ready for it.

The frustrating thing is they are doing the hard yards and then throw there wickets away

marnus smudge gritted it out and then marnus with a stupid shot

head and green rebuilding the innings and then both gift away wickets
Think Marnus was trying not to play a shot.

I've never seen so many gifts in one day of cricket.

He bowled just as badly in the last Ashes.

Worst one in recent memory was Ponting. He had a little bit of dead cat bounce but went way too long even by his own admission.

Also, I think I blanked on this but Starc's return was the best of his career today. Immense!

Only way Australia lose 4-0 is if England stay fit and win every toss.

Come Adelaide and Australia’s batting first on a road and Archer has gone home, Woods broken down it’ll be very, very different.

Also, Australia hasn’t lost this one yet.
You've seen our top order right?

He did. Saved by a big knock in SL against a pathetic bowling attack. That series saved a few players' bacon.

Should have opened with Mitch Marsh, even 6 beers deep he probably would've batted better than the rest of the Aussie line up.

Mark Wood said he is the Aussie batsman he most fears bowling to.

The fact is, this top order has been an issue for a long time. We had the chance against Sr Lanka and West Indies to bring in some much deserved new blood and instead, just wasted the opportunity. Labuschagne, seriously what is with him with playing so slow for the national team. Strike rate has been 73 in Sheffield Shield this year. Whoever is telling him to bog down should stfu. How Khawaja gets a game over Renshaw is farcical.

Today’s collapse doesn’t fill me with confidence about our prospects this series, or for the future.

Still it is day 1 of a 5 test series though.

Not like England have not snatched defeat from the jaws of victory before

Is in Perth.

Be a bit easier elsewhere. West Indies used to wreck us but that went up two notches in Perth. Even in 1992 and 1996 when we should've won one series, and won the other, their fast bowlers slaughtered us in Perth.

To be fair they were bowling really well, it was tough out there
Yeah I agree they were, so he gets a pass on that. But we've seen this for a long time now, and watching another innings where he put no pressure back on the bowlers at all, only to ironically go out accidently hitting a leave, geez he needs to show something soon.

To the few sane people who have unfortunately wandered into this thread, it's worth remembering that this is Bigfooty in its purest form.

Craziness that is normally split between 18 teams distilled into a single, perfect essence of refined nuffiness.
Without the hope of draft picks at the end
