The member for Bentleigh has done so much for local sports clubs
The Libs did SFA
TBF Libs have hardly been in power at state level so who has done more is really a mute point. If your club is located in safe seat you often get bugger all so being a marginal electorate Bentleigh tends to get a bit more thrown at it. Having said that Staikos is a decent bloke who works hard for his community. A lot to be said for having a local servicing the patch where they grew up. You can’t say the same about most politicians, no matter which side they represent.

You are mistaken there Bedford. It was paid for by the club & grant. I nearly choked when I found out how much it cost the club.
Really , well that's wrong as the council put the playground in after the oval
This new admin at Glen Eira council especially the club liason on people have dropped to a new low

And then my footy and cricket clubs in Glen Eira get nothing due to being in a LNP seat with the local member obsessed with a certain group in the community

Same as all clubs except Glen Eira who didn't pay as there is a playground behind the goals
Absolutely ridiculous on behalf of the council. Bentleigh has a dedicated walkway and carpark behind the goals. I have seen an elderly lady get hit by a ball, she was lucky it hit her shoulder and not one of her grand kids. Now if someone seriously got hurt, who do you think will cop the law suit, the person who has kicked the ball or the council who have put a walk way behind the goals?
Talk about duty of care on the field, the council have provided the facilities, it is up to them to make them safe for the whole community.

Don't they have those "Sporting event in progress" signs that absolve them of any or some liability?

It's the only requirement during cricket season, where it could easily do a lot more damage than a football.

Not at my footy and cricket clubs in GE

Absolutely insane that it can be any other way. You should have to have lived in an electorate for 5+ years before being able to run for the seat. It’s meant to be representative.

The Libs have helicoptered in 2 candidates from the Bayside suburbs for the last 2 state elections. It hasn't worked as the electorate has gone with the local guy

Asher Judah what a #### he was

If you want to get political it works both ways. Labor's own Mark Dreyfus lives in Malvern whilst being the member for Isaacs which takes in suburbs such as Keysborough etc

It was about the ALP member for Bentleigh looks after all local clubs , not about a pollie that has nothing to do with the area

I’m suprised everyone is complaining about glen eira. The grounds have never looked better. Went for a kick with my son at bentleigh last night and it’s looking amazing.
New boss at parks is outstanding , it's the rest of it

Might also be very handy for HP having Mitch cox there as his father is nick cox coaches the Dandenong stingrays u/18 side great connection to have as well

The ex CEO restructured the entire sports and recreation team out of existence and put them in other teams. Thats where it all fell down. All the good people left and are now at other LGAs
Correct and the new one is worse , cut backs everywhere , the club liaison person is so bad , has NFI

Why are they so bad?
What have they done to upset you so much Bedford?
Parks people very good , club people , no good after replacing someone that was so easy to get along with , had played sport , a parent as well as understanding clubs

I can support Bedford here, very poor communication etc. We have been constantly let down by facilities issues e.g. toilet plumbing leaks etc that aren't fixed properly or in a timely manner. Council consistently looking to cut costs where they can which included the parks and recreation teams being disbanded etc.

Recreation , couldn't even get keys for 3 weeks after footy had winded up .
Cutbacks everywhere , when it rains groundstaff are sent home etc, they don't even know what the names of pavilions are
