Is that true?

West Indies pulled out a great draw in NZ today and India have been swept at home a few times recently.

We do well in England. Still remember WI and India's epic wins in Brisbane.

Probably loads more examples.
I assume the reference was more about visiting sides in Australia. And really other than India recently the vast majority of test series in Australia in the last 25 years have been pretty one sided affairs with no real threat of losing a series. Give or take SA and India peaking from time to time.

Swings and roundabouts when we play overseas, but the thing that irks me most I think about Aust test series, is that we generally don’t see the best in opposition players. Kane Williamson and Joe Root prime examples, as well as a lot of spin bowlers over the years. Obviously the different playing conditions is an elite feature of Test cricket, but is unlike most sport where you can anticipate the best players from each side performing against each other.

Sort of agree but I think they got their tactics wrong with this game and it flew in the face of the Bazball edict.
I still think they missed a trick not putting us in to bat for half an hour before close of play on day 1. We have burnt the Poms recently after a premature declaration so I think that was playing on their mind so they didnt take the aggressive approach and declare and try to knock 2 or 3* of Aussies top order over on night 1. Do that and pull it off, I reckon we only score 300 or so and they would be ahead in the game.
So they have chosen the wrong aspect of Bazball to change at the wrong time, can they get the balance right at some stage this series?

* assumes the English magically found the ability to take a catch.
Shoulda, coulda, woulda, but didn't. However it rolls, I"m just happy to see the Poms lose, there's almost nothing so joyous than to see a quietened deflated Barmy Army, along with the Pom commentators endlessly wailing and gnashing teeth in interviews.
It's a bewt thing.

No real demons in this pitch in daylight hours

If the English tail can hang around with Stokes until, or just after tea, and build a 100+ run lead, things could get interesting under lights

Hate the calls from the commentators for Green to come on and bowl bouncers. It’s how he fecked his back in the first place.

Let him pitch it up and try to nick blokes off.

He’s bowling a nice back of a length spell here rather than a bumper barrage which is encouraging to see.

Fair catch there by Smithy, needed something special to break that partnership.
