Recap at a glance:
  • Harley Reid has signed a two-year extension, which keeps him at West Coast until at least the end of 2028.
  • He still has one season left on his rookie deal, the new extension kicks in for 2027.
  • Cal Twomey reports that the deal could reach up to $2m per year if Harley triggers all incentives (e.g. this is not a base $2m per year deal).
  • This is a straight two year extension, with no player option for a +9 or anything similar.
  • Get a big dog up ya, Victoria.

No butterball this year….
Just glad it only took him 1 poor off season to realise the error of his ways. Despite that he still finished third in the B&F.

JHF returned in podgy condition this year(perhaps a bit hampered by his foot) and I don't ever recall seeing blokes like DeGoey and Stringer ever appear to be in shape fit for AFL, although Stringer finally looked it this year as preseason reports said he was surprised at the amount of emphasis GWS out on fitness and it took him a while to break into the side because of it.

On that note, it will be interesting to see what comes out of Essendon's preseason, considering Stringer's comments about GWS and the recent appointment of Innes. Some blokes may be in for a rude awakening.

Last thing holding him back is the mental side of it now he's getting the physical side sorted.

Too often got suckered in by opposition players, needs to eliminate that from his game to reach elite status

Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

I reckon having Duursma in will help him with that. The kid's also competitive but he seems to look up to Harley, so that may want him to rein it in before he gets too lippy.

Or maybe the umps will just treat him like they do everyone else? Unlikely but may happen.

Had the 2nd year blues - but that wasn't helped by returning out of shape, no Yeo, a new coach, and a depleted team.
Ran around all season with a target on his back, everyone was ready for him, not much protection.
It will be the reverse of all that this season - a big improvement from Harley incoming.

Yet despite all that, and missing 4 weeks, still came 3rd in BnF.

Bloke's(no longer a kid) in for a monster year.

Having Baker and Graham taking a vested interest in him this off season I think will pay dividends with his maturity.

Not having Yoko Duursma around anymore I think will also help him focus more on his footy

I wish he would focus on Bella. They could keep West Coast supplied with F/S & M/D offspring for many years.
What a dynasty that would be.
Yeah, I don't wanna got all Tom Morris but I have an inkling Bella isn't into Harley...

I honestly thought as the season went on Harley did really well not getting sucked in to the niggle stuff. Seemed to go for the ball more and often loose ball

It was not a coincidence that he was playing his best footy at the mid point of the year when he was getting his fitness back..and as quickly as it came the syndesmosis got him.

Him looking the goods right now is a great sign, but the true test is when he comes back from Christmas break to see what kinda nick he's in, I got faith that the penny's dropped with him that he doesn't wanna have another start to the season like he had this year.

Goes to show 1) How absolutely rotten every player on the team was this year and 2) How silly our club champion voting system is. Ella Roberts was our best AFLW player this season by stratospheric lengths and only won the BnF by 10 votes.

2025 wasn’t second year blues. Yes it wasn’t as great as his first year but after a slow start it was a pretty decent year in the end. He didn’t help him self with his preseason and it showed at the end of the day was th number one mid at 20 years old in the shittest team with no support. Put a fit Yeo and you’d argue last season would be on pr with his first year.

People also need to understand that players development at that age ain’t always linear
