Tiny little detail as I noticed when rewatching our win against the Pies in round 22. Hawks have just blown the game apart with 7 unanswered goals. The Pies then manage to wrestle the ball forward and a clever dinky centering kick finds Lipinski in space 25m out. As Lipinski is going back, I noticed Ginni running in to stand the mark, looking so furious with his teammates that you would think we were the team who were 7 goals down. I'm attaching a screenshot.

When we took him from Collingwood, there was a sense that his attitude was not up to scratch. I think that nothing could be further from the truth. His attitude has been a credit to the club since he arrived, and has coincided with a dramatic uptick in the whole team's performance.

If I remember correctly he had another moment like this in a game against North where we were up by 100; Chol marked it close to the final siren and Ginni ran hard just to tell him there was under 30 seconds left and to take the set shot. Completely meaningless moment in the grand scheme of things but indicative of his level of effort and confidence to coach his teammates on-field.

Ginni is also one of the first players to get in amongst the celebrations. Hard to pick it up on the telly but in person you'll see him bust a gut to get amongst it. It mind seem meaningless to us but you ask Hickmott and he'll tell you that positivity is a big part of our game.

I think the two guys on our list who have the most impact on the group are Day and Ginni.

If Day can stay fit and healthy he's an absolute shoe in to be our next captain. Ginni works his backside off and his footy I.Q is through the roof. I don't think he has the right temperament to ever be our captain but he'll be an invaluable member of our leadership group if he continues to raise his own standards the way he has over the last two years.

I think Moore has had a significant impact on our small forwards as well because his work rate is phenomenal and he has basically forced the rest of them to increase their output and effort.

This is what good clubs do, they develop players through elite culture and work ethic. It's heading towards similar areas that we had in the threepeat era when we basically had about 10 blokes capable of captaining the club.

This could have just as easily been said about Sicily at the same age.

Maturity will come with time, but there’s plenty of qualities already there that could see him be captain one day.

I think he’s growing nicely into leadership material. He is able to reflect pretty well on what he’s done and how it plays out.

If he isn’t captain it will be because we have a better option, not because he is unfit for it
I've been a big supporter of Ward's, even when he had his down year.
Ward is vice captain material IMO.

Great example for everybody, but doesn't have the edge of a Hodge/Lewis/Mitchell I'd like to see in a captain.

I didn't like it when Stratton got it either, who was an outstanding defender, but I think we got it wrong there.
