Not liking the massive drop off in size for Powell. I'm sure it'll help his ability play wing but you'd have some concern about his ability to remain in the contest.
I think it can only be a good thing for his game.

We "look" to be more 1x1 rather than zoning off.

This is 100% going to be the focus

May end up being more subtle than sounds on paper - but that’s what their going with

The successful Clarkson era zone system can breakdown pretty badly to the speed of modern footy, especially since the stand rule can in ( and the lists skill set ie pink, archer, logue etc probably suited to less zone)

It’s taken a couple of years to accept it - but that’s were it’s heading.

Not interested in revealing source. Up to you how you take it .. or not. Cheers
What does the 1 v 1 approach mean for our ability to launch offensive plays from the back half? That's been a major weakness for us to date.

The launch goes alright. Thats been okay, par. Its the turn over at Half Forward that has prevented the score from Def50. That launch part isn’t the problem. Everything else is

If it means that he can run more defensively and spend more time on the wings and flanks then I'm all for it.

Err no. We are dead last for getting ball from D50 to F50, but only 13th for D50 to score.

The stats show that we are awful at the launch and transition bit, and not so bad when we manage to get the ball forward.

Thats exactly what I said. Because we turn the ball over at half forward. We dont get the entry, we dont get the stat. Then the game plan was organised to be “slow” you know that chip sideways shit, to retain possession because we turn the ball over at half forward. Thats where our game has broke down and really poor inside 50’s when we did get the chance.

When you kick the ball from behind the centre line to half forward and the ball is turned over - No stat. The break out of D50 was okay, the run, handball was okay. It was what happened next. Poor disposal.

This for me also

B: archer Logue mcdonald
HB: Kerch Chom Hardeman

FOS rotating back there also

Goater to replace lmac when his form dips
That backline doesn't inspire.

I don't see Logue and McDonald as part of the solution and Kerch should be using his weapons further up the ground.

Looks very similar to our backline last year. We know how that went.

Sorry, I misinterpreted you. But I think I still disagree. We were actually okay once we got it forward, especially inside 50, we just couldn't get it there enough.

I saw the main issue being how slowly we tried to get the ball out of defense. That is, fiddling around sideways and not using enough overlap run and taking advantage of the stand rule. The first option should always be to run and gain territory before the opposition set up, we seem to want to wait from them to get into position.

This developed about a third the way through the season and it was to assist in defensive transition as thats where we “lost” games however it was counter productive because we couldn’t score.

Then by round 20. We started to mix the game styles. Which were both mud.

Im not sold on 1v1 style unless its hybrid with certain roles filling space, create 2v1’s, or stop teams getting a handball over the top/prevent the 2v1’s..

The “skill” component to any game style has to improve significantly to move anywhere out of the bottom 4.

The hunger on the defensive game also needs to improve significantly.

The awareness of the game/pre emptive transition/team cohesion needs to improve significantly. One in the contest, one out, how many times did we see multiple players going at the ball carrier leaving an easy oit for the opposition?

No more ball watching hands on hips

And a coherent game plan our boys can understand.

I prefer 1 v 1 to what we have been doing. You get contests and layers to your defense to buy time for the support to arrive. Of course, if the other team runs harder, you are still cooked.

Whilst that Geelong game will be the one that haunts us this off season and hopefully leads to change, we should have learnt from the two Hawthorn games in 2023 when Mitchell pulled Clarko's pants down and giggled at their emptiness.

A username containing 'vegan' is a bit of a kick in the teeth for those of us who moved to debunk on here the common criticism of vegans forcefully letting you know about their dietary preferences.

Thanks for nothing Chloe, you campaigner
Exactly. Doesn't do much good to kill the gag about
How can you spot the vegan in a bar?
They tell everyone.

I am more annoyed by Nostradamus posting the social media stuff, which means that I can’t like it out of principle.

Treat every post like an Island. You just have to around here.

People have bad years, decades, 1/4 centuries, whatever.. to sift through shit for the speckle of gold that comes our way as a Norf fan.

You learn to enjoy the dickheads as much as you love those with whom you tend to agree.
very true...one of my favourites when he was playing.
Now he does a lot of charity & mentoring stuff , especially after he lost his leg
Played one of the greatest halves I've ever seen in 1999 GF. Was absolutely insanely good. Formed part of the greatest weekend of my life, managed to go to both the AFL and NRL GFs.

Anyway....I used to go to school near Jam Factory in Sth Yarra. In 2000, mate and I were wagging and we made our way to the games section at the cinemas. There was the big T playing pinball with his lad, anyway next minute T lifts the pinny up like it was a paper clip. I've never seen such a man mountain. He was wearing a Van Dam styled long jacket, straight outta Double Impact. I'll never forget it.

Do we have a phrase of the year award? Cos if not, we need a phrase of the year award

We've had some horrific, embarrassing thrashings over the years but my God, what I wouldn't give to escape this Freudian BS between Mitchell and Clarko that we as North fans have been trapped in by mere circumstance... I don't even care if we lose to the Hawks next year, can it just be a normal game please and not a venomous, spirit-breaking assault?

Why are people saying Powell is smaller? He was never big and was pushed around before. I don't think he's losing anything, and if anything, hopefully this helps him cover the ground better.
He gets pushed around because he wears birkenstocks. Thats what Sonja and Jenn wear too
