Noble? Won't be good enough to lace Fos's boots in a year. As for right now, one is gonna be a genuine star, the other has walked into a team that uses his run and is a grade or 2 above hack.
All depends on your definition of star. Can you be a star if it's only the people who follow the club noticing you? Unless we pop FOS in midfield and he suddenly develops the ability to accumulate, not sure he'll ever have the star clout.

And to be honest, I don't give a shit. I've always loved the quiet contributors with their even attributes and unassuming-ness. The man will be monumentally important for us for the next ten plus years

Gun footballer, which he has already shown that he should turn into. Is clean, skilled and composed. Only people following the club will notice, maybe, but it probably took Stevo all of his 294 games to be recognised, or Simmo. Larkey is barely heralded.

Walter is no Tony Lockett infront of goal
Checks out. Still, buckets of potential. A key forward who can chase, lay an aggressive tackle, lead, and mark. Even if he stayed mediocre in that department, it would yield quite the benefits

I know. I just think until we assemble a team with chemistry, (long way off on current vision) FOS' innate smarts are going to be used to plug holes in the boat rather than propel us into contention ala McKercher.

His brain is that far ahead of most of the rest of his mates. And I find the idea bitterly ironic that his numbers or whatever could well look worse as a result of that

Dusty Martin was an absolute gun footballer and I would hardly say he was largely heralded by the afl house.

FOS may just be our Dusty.

Bro Dustin was felated by all and sundry in the AFL world including head office with promos etc.

I'd go pretty close to mortgaging the ranch.

Curtis and Zurhaar aren't key forwards. Zurhaar has hit his ceiling.

Trembath is still an unknown quantity; his set shot technique is below AFL standard. That can change, but he can't be pencilled in as a permanent contributor yet. Love his marking, but if we knew how to manage a list he'd be a back-up option and not the great white hope.

The others you've mentioned are irrelevant to the discussion.

The way we play with our high bombs inside 50, two key forwards are an absolute non negotiable. Walter is young, powerful when he moves, and a strong mark. I think I heard his set shots are patchy, but the talent is bloody clear. If the opportunity presents, we should bolt like the clappers to secure him
Spot on zoomba23 - the only key position player on our list that may end up being able to crash packs like Walter would be Will Dawson, and I don’t know if that’s even a possibility. Not to mention that Walter applies a very high level of forward line pressure, an attribute that is very important in the modern game. Also fits our list age profile perfectly

Early days, and we are taking potential, but Trembath is good at clunking and crashing packs.

Mortgage the ranch and home of family and extended family members. Easiest decision in the world. This bloke is going to be the best KPF in the game for 10 years, maybe behind Darcy. Aggressive, good at ground level, strong mark. You'd set your entire FWD 50 structure around him and it'd free Larkey up massively. We'd be a top 5 fwd line in the game with him, Larkey, Curtis as the prime players, and then Dovaston, Banch (who I rate very highly once they stop playing him as CHB), Konstanty wreaking havoc. Too bad we won't get a look in unless Clarko finally does something useful on the player attraction front.

Geelong would be the favourites for Walter you'd think.

Couple of future picks, some farmland, bit of cotton on cash and a top up from their club sponsors who probably "borrowed" it from a cancer charity.
Hard to compete with that
And pay a $200 administrative error for late paperwork if there's any noise making AFL House edgy then roll again.

With the Archer news, we have a few choices. We can leave a spot open (seems more unlikely) or go developmental or go mature (seems the most likely).

Seamus Mitchell or even Perez are viable options.

Walter has talent, but the work ethic and effort at AFL level has to be questioned like it has been with Zane.
I think he can put it together, but that casual set shot miss from 10m shows there's some work to be done.
Pretty unlikely he picks us, but all we can do is throw our hat in the ring and sell a vision and role to him.

Of the DFA’s or previously listed AFL players I’d probably only consider:

Seamus Mitchell
Flynn Perez
Ryan Burton
Lloyd Johnstone
Wade Derksen (KP)

Undrafted prospects from last years draft:

Rory Wright
Jett Dahlitz
Tom Burton
Tom Evans

State League Prospects
Tom Blamires (mid, but can play half back)
Donovan Toohey
Jackson Voss
Harry Scott (mid)
Alex Holt

Horrible news for Jackson!

roos_fanatic08 I'm wondering whether we'd look at "like for like" or pull the trigger on someone else.... you have any love for Xavier Bamert?

Considering our lack of half back depth I reckon we'd be silly not to go like for like, but if we feel as though a specific player deserves to be on our list due to talent (regardless of position) then I'd be happy for us to back our judgement....just as long as it's not a mid-sized forward.

I reckon he'd be on the radar considering we were quick to get him down to our VFL program. You could say the same about Barker, Kneipp and Commanduer too. Plus the likes of Van Dam already on the radar.

I do like Bamert though, he has some real power and aggression in his game. Loves the physical stuff, tackles like a maniac and can get from contest to contest pretty well. If he can refine his kicking/decision making a bit he'd be a pretty solid prospect.
