Well, it would be pretty silly to show remorse for something you claim never happened.

Which is fine, but you can't then turn around at sentencing and say you are sorry, that's the ultimate bet each way strategy. Hopefully the judge sees through that nonsense. Look it's not going to be 10 years, but I'd be shocked if it's more than 5 years, probably in the 3-5 years range with a non parole in the 18 months to 2 years range.

It will be a real test case for the elite boys club that he occupies.

I reckon they’re woukd still be some back of house position in one of those worlds for him, certainly 10-20 years ago there would have been, hopefully we’ve changed enough for it to not be the case anymore

With his CV he could become President of the USA

I can very much understand this position and as I have stated I genuinely don’t think I (nor anyone) can state with any certainty how they would behave if it was their son but sitting back behind our computers as we are doing surely you can say that their response is wrong.

Emotional, understandable, etc. sure, no question, but it’s still wrong.
I mean I watched it and read all the evidence etc and thought come on SOS, give it a break. He’s guilty.

But impossible for anyone here to sit here and act like they know how’d they react. Particularly as someone so high profile with the media going after them.

There's also the small matter of the family name

Mum's career is now cooked, dad's on thin ice

High stakes, sometimes people just believe what's convenient

If he doesn't get at least 3 there should be an appeal by the DPP, he's shown a complete lack of any remorse. Think it ends in the 3-5 range with a non parole of 18 months or so.

Everything you say is more than reasonable. I just have little faith myself

trust me I agree with you. Prove me wrong courts. 3 years with 18 months non parole seems light but reasonable so to speak

Or some parents are just delusional about their kid. I remember going to school with bad kids with parents who had their head in the sand

Have heard some stuff about Steven and Jack.

Lots of arrogance. Wouldn’t shock me if that’s what was in play with the other son here. Just an entitlement and arrogance that he can do what he wants because of his family name

I think that's about what I'd expect too.

Yep, anything more I'd be surprised, anything less one could say has the judge really done their job at protecting society? Think it ends in between the two extremes. Just makes it less likely there will be appeals.

Is 3 years an extreme though? It's such a soft touch for a serious crime like this.

If I got a grade that wasn't good enough as a kid, I would be chewed out massively. For weeks on end.

Yet Tommy boy's parents will do everything they can to cover up their son's rape. Different parenting styles I guess.
Or you could get your parents to argue the teacher was wrong and graded your paper wrong and in fact you really got 100% on every test..

Which seems to be what some posters in here are suggesting.

I talk to a lot of teachers who seem to say that's actually quite common these days. Their little angel can do no wrong.

Which seems strange to me, when I was a kiddo my parents would believe everything my teacher told them, uncritically. If teacher said I was naughty, my parents believed it.

Must be a generational shift because my parents were the same as well.

There’s a lot about modern parenting that is a substantial uplift on the parents of generations gone past. This might be one that’s shifted too far though
