Who is your boy?
This in reference to Kondo

But Gus Clarke and Kondo well before being drafted were my guys, stoked we picked them

There guys i really fancied alot higher than where we picked them

I actually got mixed up not having the team sheets and numbers that Kondo mustve been Xavier Taylor playing for Vic he was that good

Is that the first "training the house down" for this preseason???
maybe, sounded like a tough session, good to see Sharp is cracking right into it.

With kako, "training the house down" ....he might be a chance of getting some more on ball minutes as a change up, or to get him involved in the game next year.

Also Roberts, Nguyen, Parish, Fiorini, Clarke all having good preseasons so far.

And training watchers believe intensity has lifted in comparison to last years preseason, a lot more "match like" sprinting efforts.

Courtesy CJohns on Blitz from Friday, 12.12.25.

Windy summer hot conditions today for training: The old northerly blowing through which made for a nice 4 goal wind to one end.

It was another tough session. For me i could see a few players start to feel it 3/4 of the way through but I have to say they fought through it. Sharp in front of me looked exhausted near the end of training but he never dropped his head once and would attack the next drill.

Its my understanding that 3 of the last 4 sessions is the most match like sprint running the club has done in the data they record on GPS. Monday’s session likely the most the club has done period. So, this is night and day to how we have done things previously. Last session is Wed next week so they are pushing as hard as they can before the break. Bloody well-earned one just quietly.

They started to do more 3/4 oval match sim work. Speed of ball movement again the focus. Message is to go forward and no back handballs or kicks. Can go sideways if it opens up space mind you. Some nice hard tackles laid with a few pushes back from players back n forth. Skills for a windy day were actually quite solid. Better than the session last Friday which wasn’t as windy.

Player that stood out to me today by far was Roberts. He was everywhere and just looked like his game will go up another gear.

Nguyen was really active in the early match sim. Looks to have more control with ball use and he was throwing himself at every contest as usual.

Clarke was really good on one wing. Was the often go too outlet pass and he just runs and runs. Duursma may have a niggle as he was on laps only today.

Fiorini was much more prominent today for me than last session I went too. I could see how he will really help chain ball movement. Really good in his hard running defensive actions and for a new guy he screams out instructions like he has been there 5 years.

Parish had his best session for me. Continuity in training every session now clicking into him looking like his old self. Actually, nailed some passes from centre break to Wright which was nice to see. He just looked his old self today and you could see he was enjoying it also.

Langford similar. The most prominent forward and it felt like he had a hand in every play. Caddy I will say timed his leads well and was good at reading the play up ahead…so some better cohesion.

Overall, some real positive signs for a Dec time period. Inness actually came up to ask if we felt there was a difference to last year in intensity….we made quite a blunt yes back in certain words.

Gerryn looking likely, winning a few defensive contests there.
Puts another wedge between Cox and Hayes

I think their best spots are down back. Theyre already relying on injury to the 3 talls for a game. Gerryn may be ahead and he slooking that likely that he may not go forward again

Will be interesting once Hayes starts playing as to whether he goes fwd again

He looks to be losing weight aswell, which is great. Was worried at 18 he was a man child and was likely only going to get bigger. Its giving him a chance to play finely alongside Mckay and Reid if need be

Its a different discussion but if he continues this trajection (and its only from training comments/snippets so far, so needs to be taken with grain of salt) then we need to consider letting Ridley go for a top 15 pick

But then throw extra buckets at Bailey Butters, King ect

They may not be worth it but i dont see how this comes back to hurt us really

Bailey 2 mill a year
Butters 2.5 mill a year

Reports from training today that Cox is looking more like his old self, only bigger (that's what she said). Main thing is he is fit and happy, any games he plays is a bonus really.

There shouldnt be much holding Cox back if he gets through a clean 5 months of training and workload, id hope that gives him great confidence with his added size

But the thing i see holding him back is probably best 22 openings in his best role. It doesnt matter how awesome he is in PS games if all Rids, Mckay and Reid are fit. Can he still play wing? Probably, could still be his go if he really deserves a game

Is he really training as a fwd? Or too early to say

23 man squad could be really benefical for him. A true utility who can play anywhere and eased back with maybe 55-60% TOG as a winger/3rd tall defender

I dont necessarily think he has to play multiple games in the VFL to earn his stripes. I think that can be done in the offseason

Can Caddy go into center bounces every now and then as a point of difference, Jezza and Luke Jackson do it a little. I could see Dan Curtin do it for the Crows.

Let's get him performing consistently as a forward first

Definitly an option

Issue is Freo have Voss, Treacy and Amiss ahead of the footy, crows Fog, Tex, Thilthorpe

We may not be good enough ahead of the footy without Caddy, but no point him dehydrating there if the footy aint going fwd

Maybe could be an option as such to swing say a Cox fwd next to 2MP and Langford for 5 mins whilst Caddy goes onball for a spurt

BomberBanter's last training review for 2025.

Tsatas hardly missing a target all day ❤

I am looking for an improvement in his competitive game.
From what I have seen so far which is only 4 sessions Tsatas is hitting the nice short kicks at half to 3/4 pace and has has some improvement in the longer kicks .

I will wait for 100% intensity for his kicking, but from small snippets their atleast appears a smidge difference in technique (very hard to change too much now)

His stagnant kicking seems ok/solid/fine

But agree hes a big body mid not competing like one, hes still trying to play as Nick Daicos without the kicking, speed, agility, ball handling.

Most mids these days have 1 standout feature either brute, hard nosed, wonderful kicks, wonderful runners

If were being overly generous his kicking is in the Dunkley, Wines, Hewett, Ned Long, Steele, Oliver, Cripps, Worpel, Viney category
