I think we probably give parish, perkins, and even gresham and prior a go early but likely quickly replaced.

Our small forward stocks are poo so I think you’ll find Merrett spending a fair bit of time there which means McGrath more mid minutes. Also need 2 mids on the bench for rotations so wont be surprised if Sharp plays round 1. I’ve also selected Robey over Perkins coz he’s a shiny new toy but Brad will probably just play Perkins…A bit to play out over pre-season but right now I have our round 1 best 23 looking like;-

Ridley McKay Nguyen
Redman Reid Roberts
Fiorini Caldwell Duursma
Robey Caddy Merrett

Forward line is too slow.

Forward line is too slow.
would be nice if Unwin, Robey come on quickly to help fill this void. I do wonder if the club starts to transition away from Zac being "the man" and use him fwd (or back) more. Would help with pressure and delivery in the front half of the ground

Robey > Perkins
HEA > Prior
Farrow v Nguyen v Z.Johnson

For me. Wont surprise me if Scott doesnt go this young but i think he should. Prior/Perkins hardly offer that much in the way of battle hardened quality experience

HEA and Farrow both have senior experience
Prior ended up having a very good year under intensive heat as the backline crumbled around him. IMO, there's no way HEA's or Farrow's young bodies just walk straight into the 23 at Prior's expense. One of them might displace someone by year's end but it's more likely to be Nguyen. HEA should be forward anyway.

Doesnt really matter which way it goes. HEA would be forward you have atleast 8 defenders and maybe 9 in this team from memory

Farrow and HEA are both ready to go for their positions. Sure theyll need a good pre season and good form. Farrow played a chunk of back half against men in the WAFL and performed, high half back is the easiest position to come straight into next to the small forward position

The only thing maybe holding HEA back is his ability to get to good enough endurance/fitness but we dont know where a high performance full PS can get him. His body is ready for men

I think it will be more so Scott picking Unwin, Perkins and Guelfi over him to start, which is fair. Alot depends what we want to do with Kako, without HEA hes the deepest small forward in Stengle rather than Miers/Mannagh/Close

If prior had such an amazing year than he wouldnt have been made to wait for a contract for as long as he was. He wouldve also got more than a year. I thought he was a bit underwhelming tbh. He got consistent games because everyone was injured

Scott tends to start the year with experience, which im ok with if its quality and in positions that it takes a while to develop in like KPD, Mid, Ruck, KPF

Backline; This is close to how I see it too. Backline is pretty settled. It's weakness is being fragile from an injury perspective. Hayes, Prior and Nguyen are solid and will see play this year.
Forwards; Possible changes I have Wright ahead of May. Guelfi is probably the right call, although it looks like a bit of a list need. That forward line would look much better with McDonald-Tipungwuti in there instead of Guelfi. ponders if Jayden Nguyen has any forward craft List need for the next draft.
Mids; Sharp straight into the midfield. Approved. Merrett should be happy to go alongside Durham and Calwell.
Bench; Tsatas, Parish and Perkins need to show big improvements on their current output. Injury-wise, Caldwell, Ridley and Reid being fit improve us greatly.

I was going to post my own best 23, but it would have been very close to this - so just added some thoughts.

Redman; can we push him further up the ground. Martin role?

SEH kicked 5 goals in a VFL match, has pace to burn. Bring all 3 boys through together and let them build chemistry. You probably push Kako and Durham and El_Hawli up to the ball and then run back towards goal when we win it.

leave Huss, Wright/Langford closer to goal

(I replied to your post in this thread). It's interesting to see how it might work out. I suspect El Hawli and Huss would have to build that chemistry in the VFL.

That VFL midfield full of big boys. Hopefully Tsatas uses his size and strength more aggressively.

Robert’s stiff to be starting on the bench?
Eh, one defender needs to start there. Generally speaking one of the half backs as you want your KPP's starting on their direct opponent and the small defender on his. It's much of a muchness, he'd be on within 2/3 minutes anyway

Alot of water to go under the bridge and theres alot of love here it seems for Nguyen

But are we preffering Mcgrath rebounding, sitting at the back of stoppage with Nguyen trying to lock away deeper, or could we prefer a Farrow/ZakJo higher up in the 1s with Mcgrath being the deeper lock away small
