I think what will save Green for Melbourne will be Australia has been struggling for a settled team, and being 3-0, the selectors would be loathe to make too many changes to a winning team. We already know Lyon will be out and suspect Cummins won't be playing, so they will only make 2 changes to the team, remembering Smith has to come back in and they will be looking at a replacement spinner.

I don’t think they’ll drop Green and it’ll be a tacit admission that the spot will always be his regardless of his output. His batting has been poor, his bowling has been poor, the thumb seems to be affecting his fielding at least and his mindset is clearly a long way where it needs to be. The Gabba dismissal was embarrassing enough on it’s own but the fact that he backed it up with that dismissal with whatever that was in Adelaide was everything you need to know about his complacency and not being locked in

I’m a big fan of Green generally and maybe he does dominate Melbourne and alleviate some doubts but I fear that this coddling of him will hold him back in the long term and will remain an almost player. The trouble is that he won’t get to play any Shield cricket with the T20 World Cup being on when that returns. If Webster played like Green did in either of the last two Tests he would be banished for eternity

I know we'll take him, but do we actually need Green in the T20 WC? Feels like there's 100 wheely bin players knocking down the door, and Green has generally prioritised Tests above white ball.

Wonder if he was as upset by the shot selection of some in the top 6 across the previous 5 innings

That's atrocious. I know Stokes loves to perform for the media but **** off, he's that Gordon Ramsey meme with all of his shit t20 players and then has had multiple goes at Archer who genuinely looks like the only one that knows how to play test cricket. I guarantee its a golf/beers thing.

Archer should not be responsible for the ineptitude of Duckett, Brooks, Pope,Crawley etc...

I get it wasn't the best shot choice from Archer, but the guy got 5 wickets in the first innings to go along with 51 runs and he's your #10 bat

As you said, hold your Baz-Balling mates to those same standards as you are your #10 - the fact that England's #7, 8 & 9 got them to within 82 runs is even more of an indictment on the top & middle order across their 2 batting innings in Adelaide

I loved watching Martyn & Blewett when I was a kid they were both stylish, Blewett had a wonderful cover drive & a great pull shot and Martyn seemed to have all the time in the world with any shot. This comes more from my dad taking me to shield games in the 90's.
Martyn seemed to be out of the Australian side for ages back then, Blewett had too many flaws against spin although I remember him carting Warne around in a Mercantile Mutual match surprisingly.

Borderline but he’s the incumbent and it’s always harder to get out than in. Not as if the alternative is in form so yes I’d still pick Green
Misinformation.
Webster played all winter batting at 45 with a ton included. While taking around 15 wickets at 25.

The notion he's out of form is poppycock.
He also scored 3 half centuries in 12 innings with a 40* in a run chase at test level this year.
