Anyone watch Treme?
From makers of the wire.
Prob won't get the action .

I will give it a go.

I downloaded S1 from Foxtel.
I loved 'The Wire', but didn't like 'Treme' at all. Maybe that's because I don't like
New Orleans jazz. I also find Steve Zahn annoying and Michiel Huisman bugs me
for some reason. Wendell Pierce was the best thing in the show.

A major dissappointment after arguably the greatest show of all in 'The Wire'.

I've watch the odd ep.

They Noithing a like.

I don't think there will be another wire ..

Treme in form was even more atypical than The Wire was, cutting edge in more subtle ways and also had a more African-American cast. It just didn’t have the dramatic spine of crime. The episodes were also very satisfying, it isn’t necessarily something to binge in a day.

So a late comer to this world.

Have just finished S3 and loving it after what I thought was a slow grind season 1

Wonderful show

Treme was ok, but I never finished it.

If you want something that's more in line with the vibe of The Wire (and closer in quality than Treme IMO), then watch The Deuce. 3 seasons, good story, great acting... similar gritty feel to The Wire.
Forgot to add, The Deuce is also made by David Simon and a lot of the same crew from behind the scenes of The Wire as well as some of the actors. Also has some big names in Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco.

RIP James "Ziggy Sobotka" Ransone!

Just read about his passing. Seemed he was manipulated and abused for a lot of his life. He played parts that were not to his liking. I've seen some of his other than The Wire stuff, and I wouldn't feel to happy about what he was asked to do.
RIP, poor fella.

RIP James "Ziggy Sobotka" Ransone!

That's really sad, especially his history of addiction linked with childhood sexual abuse.

I absolutely hated Ziggy (which was of course the point), but he was also brilliant in Generation Kill.

I hope he's found relief now.

RIP James "Ziggy Sobotka" Ransone!

I think Generation Kill will stand up as a masterpiece over time and his performance was a huge part of that. Just so sad - RIP to a great one.

‘As the great warrior poet Ice Cube once said - I did not use my AK, so today was a good day.’

"Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet"... 2 in 10 days... Such sad news:

Actor Isiah Whitlock Jr – whose starring role in The Wire launched an iconic catchphrase – has died aged 71.

Whitlock Jr., was best known for his recurring roles in Law & Order and Veep as well as being a regular in Spike Lee films.

His iconic catchphrase “Sh*******t” was also enshrined into pop-culture after he first delivered the line in 25th Hour.

MC Bad Genius I have never watched it, has it aged well?

Tried to get the Mrs to watch it with me 10-15 years ago and she didn't want to and have left it since.

Yeah, this one was another bit of sad news. He was a great actor and Clay Davis was such an iconic character.

Yup, have rewatched it semi-recently and it's still brilliant. The first couple of episodes can be a little hard to follow and if you're open to it, watching with sub-titles for those ones will help you keep track of what's going on and also to understand some of the street talk.

It's got fantastic storylines and there's about ten characters that are all absolute icons of TV.

You think it's just about street crime, but then it brings in dock workers and unions in Season 2, politics in Season 3, the education system in Season 4 and the media in Season 5. It's incredibly good at world-building, but also getting you invested with all the characters.

You got yourself a new years resolution right there!

Thanks mate.

It's been on my watch list for about 20 years. Around season three was the first time I went to watch it, so I might have to watch by myself of the Mrs isn't keen.

Funny thing is the Mrs loved OZ and The Sopranos witch I think had the same show makers but never warmed to this.
