Out of Gorringe and Buckley, Buckley definitely has the better business model.

He could sell Producey, walk away from it and the new owners could continue as is.

Gorringe hasn’t diversified at all, his whole business is himself, so would be much harder to sell or wound up.

Much easier to burn out or get stale when the whole content is about you as well.

You can already see it with some DDF reaction content, will just be a screenshot of the tweet/article and then a greenscreened version of him looking sad/disgusted etc.

Probably has named 5-7 reactions like that and the social media people just use them on repeat, but as a viewer it’s real dull

Buckley has done well from a business model perspective

But shafting fans to go and sit at the basketball with his olive oil mates did some fair damage

Dan Does Footy has a Seek ad up for a podcast producer - paying $59,000 - $80,000k Pro rata for Part time.

Working days are "Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Weekend work"

You need
2-3 years experience in media production, podcasting, or sports journalism
Proven experience in Audio and Visual editing (Adobe Premiere Pro)

What you'll do
Podcast production, including setting up and packing down recording equipment (microphones, cameras, lighting, etc.)
• Prepare and maintain episode runsheets, guest notes, and talking points.
• Run recording sessions, both in-studio and on location.
• Watch and stay up to date with all AFL games, news, and storylines to contribute ideas and insights
• Editing and publishing for Podcast and Vodcast content.
• Contribute ideas for improving the show’s production and social content

Seems like Dan wants an experienced media professional for aboslute peanuts.
I have no experience in this kind of career but just going by the above ad and off the top of my head

1. It's not part-time
2. It looks to be 60 hours work each week
3. Working with Dan danger money not included

It would be a great stepping stone but gee the renumeration looks ordinary ( from the outside)

Yeah it's horrible tbh.

Watching all the footy games across a weekend would be 18-25 hours depending on if you fast forwards ads/allow for pre & post game shows + all your weekends are gone from a social standpoint.

The industry (radio, production, media) etc is built on things that are "a good stepping stone" for the individual and an absolute rort for the company.

Like I said, if you have no interest in building a platform for yourself out of this, it would be a terrible job with awful pay.

It's not as far off as you'd think but it depends on the actual role. The listing is for producer work, not hosting/on-air work, but if the role actually becomes both it's underpaid.

The silly requirement with the role is having to watch all nine AFL games. If that's a paid part of the role, that in itself is a part time job. The actual producing of the podcast with a few shows a week wouldn't take an experienced producer all that much time.

I'd guess the issue that Dan found is that once his producer became part of the show's "talent" so to speak, the salary requirements go way up. Background staff that work in these sorts of media roles don't get paid big bucks.

Yeah that's what he did by starting his own podcast. Lets not forget that Dyl has had around 4 more years of experience building his podcast than what Dan has had and Dan is much better at marketing in general.

I honestly would not be too worried about him from a business standpoint.
Producey has a host of other shows on the network that the main account can post about, share and bring new audiences into producey.

Dan has Dan and Dan gets pretty damn boring when he's just talking about Dan

Agree - Wages could be as low as a shop assistant or as high as a trainee teacher - depending on how many hours.

Moreover, thinking up ideas for Dan to pillage along with all tech production seems like a busy day.

And the viewing of all games……just goofy. What’s Dan doing while his slave sidekick is manacled to the TV?
