Being a helpful villager was just getting me drowned in paranoid conspiracies by the village leaders so I decided to have a little fun instead. Not having to come back to this village on boxing day also a driving factor

That's fine. It's a long shot at best but regardless of his actual role, it's better for the village if gralin is dead sooner rather than later. His death with bring a lot of clarity once we know his role and he's not causing chaos.
