I want Richardson in 100%. He’s clearly a risk but he’ll worry the Poms big time if it comes off
Agree worth the punt and him and Green can share a “fast bowlers load”

Agreed. The series is locked away so 4 potential knocks with not as much pressure attached might unlock his form. As much as Bigfooty hates him he’s part of Australia’s plans for the next decade

He's gotten those 10 shield wickets at a MUCH better average than the other spinners. He has a bowling strike rate for this season of 55 which is insane for a finger spinner. Lillee's was 53.Yep. Sydney a bit different and obviously if Lyon was there we wouldn’t do this but is a bloke who has 10 shield wickets this year really getting more than Jyhe or Neser?

Rocc's average is 28 with a similar strike rate (also insane for a finger spinner)
But he's bowled twice as many balls as Murphy, so given the difference in averages, Murphy is also keeping the runs down, which I think is better against England.
I’d like to see Marnus be given a go with his little 125km seamers. Point of difference from the others bowling speedsAgree worth the punt and him and Green can share a “fast bowlers load”
10 wickets in last years Boxing Day test were taken by spinners.Murphy isn’t that much better and likely to run through sides. We shouldn’t need a spinner on a pitch that suits quicks
Hows the pitch looking like? Green or not so green?
That’s his job, we can put whatever number alongside his name we like. It’s still his job to make runsGreen at 7 might be good to take a bit of pressure off to make a score

The MCG hasn't been a road for white a few seasons now.
We've got the recipe for fish and chips you can go back home now.I’m the bowler mate. Actually not bloody likely, I was born in England
The advantage is having a better teamHe’ll stay in the rest of this series. There’s no advantage dropping him now. Where does he go to find form and don’t say Big Bash…he can slot in at 7 and can be settled there
Reminds me or Symonds who could do both medium and/or spin.I’d like to see Marnus be given a go with his little 125km seamers. Point of difference from the others bowling speeds

Doesn't need to "find form". The next test isn't for more than six months. He’ll stay in the rest of this series. There’s no advantage dropping him now. Where does he go to find form and don’t say Big Bash…he can slot in at 7 and can be settled there
2 tons in 30+ tests is not making us betterThe side is better with a guy with two test tons in it. It’s about him finding his form. Settling him in one position would help. In the last while he’s batted 3,4,5,6,and 7. It’s not helping. Put him at 7 and keep him there
Least Inglis is out
No shit. But sometimes a little ball tickle when you’re out of form can reignite it. “Make runs at 5 ya useless campaigner or face the gallows” isn’t the best selection strategy. I like Webster too but I just know it he comes in and gets out cheaply every campaigner will be going “This campaigners shit, get Green back in”That’s his job, we can put whatever number alongside his name we like. in the recent Shield game (the only Shield game at the G this season), of the 34 wickets taken, spin accounted for 7 dismissals (and Matt Short took 4 of them b/c the Vics didn't pick a specialist spinner).10 wickets in last years Boxing Day test were taken by spinners.
The MCG hasn't been a road for quite a few seasons now.
Yep and Mark Waugh. He was a real Swiss Army knifeReminds me or Symonds who could do both medium and/or spin.
How did the original post you quoted say "quite a few seasons" and end up in your quote as "white a few seasons"?That’s not many average of 2.5 per innings and it’s not as if these options are Lyon. Let’s be real whether it be Murphy or Rocc are they getting more than 1 an innings?
Neser just got 5, and we can have Carey standing up. We all know Richo’s talent
Give Webster a solid go and if he doesn’t make runs after a while then you look at possible changes, like should happen with any player. Green had that go and didn’t take his chance. No shit. But we have this constant talk of preparing the next generation of players - hell, just 3 or 4 posts above that was used to justify Green staying in regardless of his form and output. That’s not many average of 2.5 per innings and it’s not as if these options are Lyon. Let’s be real whether it be Murphy or Rocc are they getting more than 1 an innings?
