In fairness, looking good making 17 doesn't carry much weight if you run yourself out.

I just checked, he still hasn't made 100 runs for the series.

He won't get dropped, because he is the selector's golden child who is undroppable seemingly, but he probably needs some time out of the side to try to regain his confidence and to get his head right.

As you say though, a score in the second innings could turn things around.
