First team.

Im sober so its dog shit.

Tried to get Kentfield on the field but hes too much of a kent.

Thinking of dropping him altogether so he can be in the box with the main kent :moustache:

I think it’s really hard to justify starting opening round players this year outside of GWS and Saints. That round two bye is horrible. Playing one game then being out just kills any appeal.

Besides value picks I don’t really see the point.
Disagree Bont is also well worth it as he is 10-15 points better a game then everyone other then Butters who is also a lock (no bye for him though thank god)

Don't think the GWS guys are worth it as they are all at inflated prices and had as many down games as up

For me Bont and NWM are the only 2 worth it as I think they will be D1 and M1 for the year

I’m sure many on here can attest to how much I love Bont in sc. I think after Ablett, Gawn and Danger he’s the best SC player we’ve seen. I just hate the idea of picking a bloke who is already a game down on everyone else.

In this modern age of concussion protocols and suspensions for nothing I think we need every game we can get. Can turn into a 18 game season pretty quick.

Btw not saying I won’t pick any premo players who have the bye.

I fully understand that but even after missing 5 games Bont was within 80 total points of Serong last year injuries happen but Bont is so far ahead of every option that isn't in OR (Bar Butters) that it makes it very easy

This is the absolute minimal early bye players, Gawn and X, all the cheap mid price madness non double bye bullshit players.

And yes i have the balls to start a team like this :moustache:

Just a placeholder probably but Will Darcy has 0% of playing a game next year unless we have every single tall injured

Think there is too much value this year to pass up on however fitness for Treloar/Parish/Draper/Young is a worry

Add Pou to that as well, although at his price he's an easy flick to a rookie. The others are risky, especially in combination, they either require 2 trades to fix or if you're lucky, another MP on the rise.

I'd like to hear your reasoning on the Daniels pick.

I currently have the 4 you mentioned and I'm wondering whether it's wise to keep $170k ITB as insurance? Could I gain 30pts on field by spending that cash wisely?

My team with said cash ITB

Injured most of last year priced at 55 average went at 85 for the year in 2024 with some huge spike scores,

Think he will make 100k-150k and be decent on field scoring

As for the 4 Draper is the one most likely to make way for mine as he hasn't got the scoring history behind him and is the most expensive of the lot,

If they do get injured they are at a price where you can either pivot to a better mid pricer or just bank cash and pick up better rookies you may have missed

I find them less risky in combination

2x 300k mid pricers = 1x500k premo and 1x proven rookie.

With 36 trades assuming you start with 9 or more actual premiums. Thats 28 trades for upgrades and 8 left for injuries/sideswaps.

Now if 2 or 3 out of those 8 hit and are keepers that’s another 4-6 trades back in your pocket and the odds that one mid pricer will hit rise the more mid pricers you take.

And you don’t need to plan for rookie corrections because those are just initial upgrades

Whatever the approach it's about nailing the right picks. If you get the wrong MP's and some of your rookies get dropped early you are in pain. Get them right and you are ahead.

I can't be arsed researching it, but it would be interesting to see how many MP's past winners start. My guess is it would vary year to year, but they would generally get most of their picks right.

I would suspect that it’s more in recent years as this strategy is a direct reflection of the increased amount of trades we currently have.

it’s only really viable with the amount of trades we currently have

From memory about 5-10 in the 200-500k range, excluding expensive 1st year players.

Agreed and he's out. Had a chance to look at byes now and this is my updated effort.

I like some and dislike others.
LOVE the Callaghan pick-i think he could go huge this year. Im not sure id risk 3 wce rookies in midfield-2 max-id probably take one out.

Don't like tim Kelly with his age and the form/motivation issues-i think Flanders is a much better option at that price. Moir and trembath are educated gambles-id probably prefer philipou to one of them.
I can see the appeal with zach Reid and he could score big but his injury history is a huge gamble.

Adams is injured again already

Thanks for the info. I did in fact see that after including him in my team. Not surprised to be honest!
