I like some and dislike others.
LOVE the Callaghan pick-i think he could go huge this year. Im not sure id risk 3 wce rookies in midfield-2 max-id probably take one out.

Don't like tim Kelly with his age and the form/motivation issues-i think Flanders is a much better option at that price. Moir and trembath are educated gambles-id probably prefer philipou to one of them.
I can see the appeal with zach Reid and he could score big but his injury history is a huge gamble.

I think it’s really hard to justify starting opening round players this year outside of GWS and Saints. That round two bye is horrible. Playing one game then being out just kills any appeal.

Besides value picks I don’t really see the point.

It’s no different whichever the round is.

It’s one bye over a four week period and three games. Only matters how many you have in a specific week.

Mid-priced mids are the go. This is my maximum spend team. I'd like $500k+ in the bank but ill settle for this.

I guess to simplify the difference between this and a team using the full salary cap i think of it as an extra rookie instead of a gun. So i start one trade behind everyone because i am locking in an upgrade but i start however many $K that extra rookie makes ahead of the pack. If that rookie makes $150k then i can use that $150k for upgrading opportunities that were otherwise not open to me. That should 'save' a trade in essence.

With the flex, i think there is slightly more merit to start with cash in hand than in years past where no scores drop out. That means that while i may start 90ish points behind (483k is equivalent to ~ 90 points) based on initial value, i would be very unlucky to lose 90 points a week on the pack because the extra rookie should obviously score well above the price point & i get to drop the worst performed rookie.

So, conservatively, i may start 50-65 points per week behind the pack but i can hopefully make some/most of that back with the trading options that present themselves. I think im going to be aggressive early and look to go nuts picking all the best value propositions while retaining most of the ~480k in the bank and then around the mid season byes ill use all my cash in hand and drop boosts to get the best side possible.

Lets see how i go! Im excited for the season and the new strategy. I mentioned how id lost the passion for it doing things conventionally so im going from left field while still implementing a strategy that could work. Probably won't, but could!

I think this is my most well-balanced side of the preseason so far. As always, I'm tossing up between the right structural choices, and trying to work out the risk/reward profile between mid-pricers and potentially overpriced premiums.

Reckon you might be too heavy in defence with this one. There looks to be a lot more Def. rookies than Fwd.

I would have thought they would be more likely to play culley (who is more ready to go) than onley early.
