Happy New Year Lego fans!

A few sets I was too slow to preorder on the Lego website are now on backorder.

Has anyone placed a backorder directly with them before, does it take a while to fulfill usually? I'd much rather sit and wait than mess around with scalpers and resellers.

Yes. I've done both back order and pre-order and in my experience they do ship on the day they say it will (sometimes earlier I guess if stock comes in early). The availability they quote on the website has been accurate in my cases.

They also don't charge your card before shipping, so be aware of that if your card is close to expiry, or gets reissued. In that case they will send you to a payment gateway to re-pay before they will ship (you don't lose your order).

Store update . Big queues (so much for the recession...) and plenty of some of the new releases. No Creel House (it was being built by one of the staff) or Shopping Street. I did like the Japanese Cherry Blossom, I think they've done a good job there. The galloping horses scroll looked pretty impressive too. They had the new Speed Champions apart from the one I wanted, the De Lorean. They were running around restocking basically as fast as they could. Don't think I've seen it so busy.

I think Amazon will have many of theore mainstream new sets shortly, so might wait for a discount there.

Bust the budget as expected and came home with the Ninjago Old Town. These large Ninjago sets are pretty much the best bang for the buck with Lego these days.

Yeah, don't stress about that. I get that email with every order these days whether in stock or not. Check your order status every now and then on the website and as soon as it says "in warehouse" they have it and will be shipping out pronto.

I ordered a bricklink dev program set before Christmas, got that email, and received the set itself two days(!) later.

I sort of regret not getting into Ninjago, they are truly amazing sets. Far too late to start now if I want the complete collection without requiring a second mortgage. Same with the modulars.

I know nothing at all of the back story or the characters, but I have all of the Ninjago City sets and they're so much fun to build and display. The Old Town isn't "modular" like the others but should still be displayable with them.

bag 2 is smaller, just the landing gear, its pretty sturdy standing up


bag 3 contained about 5 bags again plus smaller bags inside the main bags, on the right side is the drop down cannon, the left side is the main crew area and chess table

Just an update on this, I pre-ordered one of the Jan 1 sets and was advised on Jan 2 it had shipped. So basically the first business day of release. Will probably be here Monday.

I walked past a Lego store twice in the last week. Last weekend it was virtually empty. Just a few days back it was restocked.... with flowers, creator and duplo sets. Not super exciting but at least it wasn't empty.

If they can chuck one in a repackaged 1966 Batmobile that plays the Batman theme as you roll it along the floor I'd totally buy the set again

Well faith has been rewarded, the set I was expecting to wait until February for was posted out yesterday. Maybe someone cancelled theirs? Happy either way!

It'll turn up first in a few SW sets, but the possibilities are potentially endless. Smart of them to come up with something that doesn't need a device.

Bag 5 is the rear of the ship



bag 6 is the front of the ship, not the most sturdy part of the ship, broken it a few times moving it about

Has this arrived yet? Am bursting to see what this is like to build, it looks like a very impressive build.

Will be worth it when done, I read someones review of it and the process took months (1-2 nights a week).
