I know. Been here 15 years and I am sad to have to move.
Also wtf at the price of housing right now.
I knew you people would understand :hearts::hearts:

15 years, done well. I just made move 11 in the last 9 years, it’s very expensive and very hard to find good places.

Capital Power the vending machine is a great, great build.

Wish we had more of it, I didn't document it this time because I figure many in this thread have it already, but the mechanism is terrific and I look forward to using the capsule balls for other purposes (eg deciding where to go on date night).

A rare recent Lego win, the future might be in the mid-range sets if you're an adult collector instead of paying $700 for a half-baked aquarium or $1500 for a slice.

Saw that the gingerbread AT-AT is on 80 day back order. Sure that happens with popular sets but for something Christmas themed that did make me LOL.
Yeah unfortunately this is common for Christmas-themed sets. I've learned to get these as soon as they are released because they do go OOS quickly. At least it is more common now for these sets to make a reappearance in future years, so hopefully it'll be the same with the AT-AT. It's a little gem, if overpriced.

I couldn't even get the little Christmas ornaments set at the local Store a few weeks after release. I must say though that at least it's better than my local Post Office, which sells any amount of tat and allows you to do banking and pay bills but didn't, when I visited, have any Christmas stamps to sell me  .

The gingerbread AT-AT's are selling on ebay for over $200

Should I sell mine before christmas, and back order to replace?

Meh, cbf.
Yeah, build it, stick it in your Christmas display and get a little spark of joy everytime you see it. That's easily worth the extra $100 you'd make :thumbsu:

Finished the Steamboat. A bit fiddly and tedious in the last few steps, but the end result looks impressive. Although it's at minifigure scale there are none, but obviously you could populate it yourself. I think that's because it is a display set foremost - it's a little flimsy in parts and won't take a lot of playing with. Only a few (reasonable) stickers and a lot of internal detail (which of course you don't see when complete). The decks are removable, but that does require removing the axle assembly on each level that provides the rudder function to the wheelhouse at the top. I never want to see another white telescope piece (around 150 of these, used as railings).

The rooms are nicely fitted out but all too small to realistically include minifigures.

Value is a nebulous concept with Lego these days, but at $500 (it has been discounted in the recent past, and possibly we'll see that again) it's a substantial and engrossing build. However, if you want to build a Lego ship I'd personally recommend Endurance over this one (and it's $100 cheaper), and reviewers suggest the Not the Black Pearl is a good choice too.

Sold one of my Lego Game Boy sets, some sanity restored lol. Hopefully the buyer enjoys the build or.... decides to hang on to it for an increase in value :p

I did ok (slightly more than "Lego" retail price). Got a few annoyed inquirers that were miffed at the price (wanting it at the intro Kmart/Target/Big W price range). However I was steadfast that if they want it for that price.... buy it from there (can't as it's mostly sold out).

Funny thing is I also had low ball offers ($30-$50). I laughed and I laughed.

I need advice on how to pack and move my Lego. It's a little bit overwhelming right now.
I break down as many as I can and bag them, but if this isn't practical I use 10l/25l lidded tubs from officeworks ($22 for 6 I think last time I bought them?). Robust enough to be stackable and easy to move either yourself or by a removalist.

I packed up a couple of small sets over the weekend. I kept the boxes and instructions so put all the pieces in zip lock bags. One of the sets had a lot of white pieces and a mixture of other colours so I separated those which was quite satisfying.

In terms of moving built sets I wouldn't trust anything other than holding it in your lap as someone else drives. Depends on the size and shape of individual sets though. Something like a car should be OK but some sets want to topple over if you breathe too heavily.

Advice request please :). Am contemplating buying a much sought after retired set from eBay for Christmas, as I found one in Australia. It would be the most I've ever spent on a single set. How safe/reliable is eBay purchasing, particularly if the seller only has fewer than 100 transactions? Might seem strange but I've never used it and font have an account. Thank you.

Use paypal. It has good buyer protections if there is a dispute.

You should also be able to set paypal to draw the funds from your credit card, for an extra layer.

Also, read the feedback on ebay for the buyer

I buy from ebay a lot, but not new in box retired sets.

I think (not entirely sure) a few people selling Lego on ebay are selling stolen merchandise, or drop shipping using stolen gift cards. Sometimes the prices are too good to pass up. Recently, I managed to snag the Lego Icons Senna and Mansell at auction for less than retail.

100% make the purchase with Paypal/credit card. It's a shame ebay don't deal with AMEX any more, their buyer protections are intense.

The one drawback, and I got this just today with a delivery, is the box can be scuffed either in transit or undisclosed by the seller.

I'm not the sort of person that finds the condition of the box that important, but I am aware that lots of people do.
