43 minute last quarter?
Or is that allowing time to pause and get drinks?
Well quite some time passed when Gawn and Trac and co all bolted to the forward fifty and had to be brought back as Choco was counting his fingers.

I would suggest, as I often do, to sneak in some prep a little earlier and have those drinks ready and close at hand!

Ya never know, might even hit the clubs later, been rehearsing some fresh new moves!

I don't really agree with the Smith comparison. Smith has Wilson well and truly covered for disposals and clearances over their respective first seasons. Smith has always been a big accumulator and has largely played mid throughout his career. He isn't necessarily the player winning it at ground level all the time but he is the one bursting out of congestion and roosting it forward.

Wilson more strikes me as someone who will sprint out into open space and beat opposition on the spread (plus work extremely hard to present the opposition from doing that to us).
Smith is a brilliant player and was levels above Wilson in their respective draft years so to compare them when Darce is relatively unproven is admittedly always gonna be quite optimistic

But Wilson had 32 33 37 disposals in the VFL playing the same inside mid role Smith plays at AFL level iirc

I’ve watched Smith super closely bc of SuperCoach and what makes him elite despite his lax kicking is the ability to do both of what you said - burst from contest but also hurt on transition. He runs non-stop and no one can go with him. Metres-gained player. Wilson did that for Sandy and perhaps with a bit more class at the lower level

Transition from VFL to AFL is where development will come in but early signs in that role are v good. Just needs to iron out some aspects of his game ie. physicality and consistency which hopefully will come with the bigger frame

His third year in the system will be telling

On field leadership.
Who picks it?
It showed potential last year in that Melbourne comeback.

Rewind to 2017, you have to wonder.

Ouch. That’s one “interesting” group. A mixture of frightening and bewildering…though I loved Dylly Bob!

Ross drops Wilson in after round 19. Brings Wilson back into the team round 22. Highlights him in his Essendon presser (5:29 min). Wilson comes out the week after and kicks 5.

Just shows how much weight his words carry with players.

can it be set up that if you bookmark a post that gets deleted, that it is replaced by the next post or the previous post?

as it is i will have to make a note not to bookmark a post where 2 bozos are arguing or insulting each other, its a damn pain in the axx trying to find where i left off again

Every AFL player supported a team before being drafted. Long bow. I wouldn’t be too concerned.
i remember dunstall talking about this one time,he said as soon as your drafted who you follow as a kid is the first thing gone,in his case he played his 2nd and 3rd grand final against the team he followed as a kid

I wonder what they were channeling back then? a bit of Grant Thomas? Give the lesser lights a role? It was also the last JR year. (Joey & Rooey) Times have changed.

That’s the truly sad part - they weren’t our lesser lights 😩

Then it is perhaps amazing that we were not terrible in those years. Having Gold Coast and GWS as soft targets, a scandal-ravaged Essendon and a weak Melbourne back then might have given us an easier ride, but St Kilda were competitive again by ‘16-‘17 , at least for patches of those years. A credit to Richo perhaps.

How many of those seasons propped up by wins against GWS/Suns
