we obviously played far worse but Geelong were unbelievable in the 07 GF, literally everything they touched turned to gold. They broke our spirit very early too and the floodgates opened, and our coaches box refused to lock it down to make it a somewhat respectable loss.
They were also on drugs.

They had selwood and ling missing and we had Wilbur playing

Rooke came in as well. King came in for Blake. But they also lost key defender 2007 AA Egan to a career ending foot injury in R22. For whatever reason we seemed overawed - Ebert's early set shot miss, later the infamous Pettigrew run-down by Ottens :( Even mid Q1 while in touch on the scoreboard we were under immense pressure all round.

I thought we were absolutely no chance, not something I recall thinking of any side in any grand final since urgh, maybe Melbourne 2000? I think Choco commented later that he may have gee-ed up the group too much pre-game? Whatever, nine goals down, refusing to lock down post half time and scarring a playing group forever... a very poor decision.

It will rage me to my deathbed, that Port will continue to cop grief about the 2007 GF, when it should have been struck from the history books as Dank 1.0. Except the AFL had to be publicly forced to dig into Dank 2.0 and the admissible evidence is long gone, short of a death bed confession.

Like many I have tried to erase the 2007 Grand Final from the memory bank for the most part. :D

But if memory serves correctly I remember [PLAYERCARD]Shaun Burgoyne[/PLAYERCARD] kicking a goal in the first term that had the margin back to a goal or so at the 20 min mark of the first quarter. Not out of control at that point.... But then things escalated quickly :(

Lol is that all , happens 20000x a day in Australia

Reminds me of the old joke ... Jack comes home from the pub and says to his wife that Steve was boasting he's slept with every woman in their street except one. His wife unhesitatingly says, that would be that stuck up Bev at no. 28.

I don't have much sympathy when it comes to breakups in that world, his wife didn't even wanna know him initially before she found out he was an AFL player.. shallow as a worms grave you probably get what you deserve.
You know the old saying “never date a footballer”

This is why

His wife's best friend according to gossip
Queensland police have attended the best friend's property today and confiscated rifles. This is sad and frightening.

Correct.
Remember thinking that we’d weathered an early storm and we’d be happy to only be a goal down ugh.

The only other th8ng I remember with any clarity after that was we’d kicked a couple in the 2nd and thought we’d at least be able to keep it respectable, and Ablett got caught after two bounces in a run down tackle (Surjan maybe), threw the ball forward and the ump called play on, Chapman kicked another and I was ready to get plastered and forget.

I’d expect that is preemptive, not because there’s been any threat or even a display of intent.
Agree, a preemptive strike to limit the possible damage from a domestic violence incident.
