But that’s not what O’Keefe or anyone is inferring???

Why would you assume it is??

It is merely someone pointing out ‘hey, this team that’s losing hasn’t come out here and been an absolute joke that had no hope and couldn’t have won it even if everything went their way. They’re showing at the moment and in the last test that they could have done things a little differently and potentially won, which will give them some things they need to reflect and work on.’

Lol, that’s all very specific for a subjective vibe take on what’s being said 😆

I’ve parsed what has been said differently - because most of those who’ve said it keep ignoring/leaving out the vital context that it’s a contest between two teams: the performance of one team directly and causally affects the performance of the other…for example, I can look great scoring a double ton in the club 3rds but if I then walk out and face a Shield attack under the pressure of game conditions, I’d be made to look utterly incompetent

The reason England didn’t get more runs is the external pressure Australia applied to them during the contest

They tried batting in a range of ways in the first 3 Tests and lost each time because of the relentless pressure they were under…now that the pressure has eased, you can’t just say: ‘ahh, this is how they should have batted’…they tried and failed ffs

I’m not sure why you’re implying this context isn’t relevant/important

3 wickets in a day.

These ashes really have not done test cricket a lot of favors. Many of the big crowds won't be turning up next year imo
calling it a day is disingenuous. it wasn't even two full sessions ffs. god you lot whinge

The old stands have character the rest of the joint is an eyesore.
The venue had its highest attendence in 50 years and couldn't crack 50k, The old stands look good, but reality is the venue is now 4th out of 5 for capacity, and the bad light yesterday should be pointing to the fact that the light towers are the oldest in Australian cricket now.

The venue is needing a renovation.

That and the Gabba.

I don’t think anyone, least of all O’Keefe who has lauded Australia at every opportunity, has overlooked the fact that Australia have also contributed to what’s happened, mate. It’s ok, people aren’t forgetting that either.
