Welcome Welcome to St Kilda - Charlie Banfield

That's like an overhead marking highlights package. He looks like he'd make a really nice defender. He times his marks and reads the drop of the ball really well. Nice vision as well. Sets up the play reading it before others have worked out what's going on.

He might end up a Brendan Goddard type if he grows a bit. Otherwise a James Sicily interceptor. Maybe Tom Stewart in there too.
From what the club has said you'd think he will only end up in defence if he fails as a winger.

Mate from WA who is a Dockers fan said Eagles fans are ropable they didn't pick up Charlie. Maybe we can draft his brother next year? I always loved his Dad as a player
Just watching him training this morning I can see where all the love comes from. Looks a ready made footballer. Took on Pou in marking contests and was far from disgraced. Similar size to Pou even at this stage.

I've only seen a couple of their games (Banfields) but they linked up well in a few passages, if you have one you may well want the other. Charlie looked to be more inside while Harper looked more outside and a better field kick. I'm a little annoyed we didn't take Charlie, but I think I'll be more annoyed if we don't take Harper based on what I've seen whilst being younger. Either way hope we goes well.

Why do you say that?
His profile reads, a hard running wingman who can go forward with his marking ability & height at 192cm.
Could be a good third tall forward & might even grow a few cm's yet.

Might need to find a better highlights package tbh  👉:D

It’s every involvement in the game. It can be a bit misleading when you only put in the highlights so I try to put everything in to give a truer picture

Done the drive with Mase

Surprised no-one's tried to nickname him Banff or some variation thereof.

Also gives further insight into the Wood hosting situation - quite the production line. Thanks again Norff!

Speaks well already.

We will be thanking West Coast for years for not matching.

Great watching as usual.
Seems like a very grounded kid.

But Mason Wood - I know it’s been said before, but what an unbelievable acquisition he has been for us. Another 3 young men being mentored by him is just huge for us.

Pretty optimistic to get him to rookie list. Taken at 41, would surely have been taken by another club before the end of the draft.
He is never going to be a top 5 player of the league, but the kid can football and would make probably any AFL team.

So is this our Mason Wood succession plan? Wingman and tall half forward? Listed at 192cm as an 18 year old draftee, looks like he can run.

I hope he makes the Weagles list management team cry personally.

IMO a 100-200 game player, with potential to be more. Which is a very good return on a pick 41.

We have more than a few of this type. Boxshall, Banfield, Wilson, Philippou.
