Just like the tea break. Umpires making up rules as they go. They could have kept playing for 5 more balls, it was just “easier” to call stumps.
I thought having early tea though also reduced amount of time lost, otherwise you have 10 min for change of innings, get out and bat then go off for 20 minute tea

I dare say given the situation at the time and what happened afterwards it should be England whinging about that and not Australia given what was happening at the time: not really sure why you’re whinging about it
some posters mentioned that Travis seemed to be complaining or otherwise talking to umpires about the light
I was only listening via radio so didn't see it myself

They don’t really offer it to the players anymore anyway - you do get players complaining about it from time to time and the commentators said it was happening today. There was no discussion of it yesterday at all the umpires just took them off rapidly and called tea.

Can you show me where they complained about the light yesterday. Thanks. By the way - didn’t Marnus complaining about the light actually lead to today’s confrontation?

And yes, Australia asks to change the ball all the time. All teams do. Including mine.
ball change request should be a 5 run penalty unless the ball is actually out of shape
Similar to how when you call a snake catcher you don' t pay if there is a snake found, but if no snake you pay the call out fee

You were right about one thing at least.
Yep.

This bit.
Look, I know you are never wrong, and can't handle being challenged without turning it into an argument.

But........go back to what he wrote, replace "they're" with "they are" and ask yourself if it makes sense.

I'll leave it that.

That’s actually a very good idea

Rememberin too that the umpires do get to see the ball every wicket, every drinks break and every session break anyway so they should theoretically be across it most of the time anyway

When he defended that waist high ball with as much style as me on Xmas Day he was shaking his head and looking at the umps as if to say hes struggling to see it

It wasn't a "road" this morning and when the 2nd ball was taken.
Broad’s observations on radio have been very interesting in that he suggested today with a new ball batting would be tricky because of the divots in the pitch that would enable the ball to seam around. Keep on enforcing the importance of using the new ball.

Right on cue.
