Based on my Twitter feeds it sounds like Slot is going to be the next manager sacked. If that is true then that would most likely mean no January signings.

Chelsea have trigger quote the Domino effect.

* Taw seems supportive of Slot. I rate Neil Atkinson and John Gibbons highly as they are always considered. They are the only ones who have questioned the Sporting Director (and I totally agree with them).

As far as I'm concerned, if Slot can keep us in the top 5, he should get the time to try and fix our brand of football, and be here while our squad transitions. Lot of changes last summer, possibly Salah, VVD, Alisson, Konate, Robbo to go in the next year or 2 as well.

First step was we got set pieces completely wrong, hiring a bloke with no experience in that role has cost us dearly, we are the worst in the league for that. Man United sacked Amorim and that included his backroom staff, their set piece coach being the 2nd best in the league at attacking set pieces is now available.

Yeah we didn't play well and yeah it sucks to concede at the death like that but when a goal like that is scored you just have to put up your hands and say fair play. Although, why the **** nobody closed him down I have no idea.

Friday morning will be incredibly frustrating. Arsenal play anti-Klopp ball, even more than we do now. They play for set pieces, foul cynically, and keep the ball out of play. However...

• Saka can be frustrated and is prone to outbursts. Kerkez should be at his most annoying and combative
• Bradley will need to be on his game against Trossard
• Rest Wirtz, go speed and chaos with Ekitike in front of Gakpo, Szob and Frimpong. If Gakpo ain't working, swap the kid in (Rio)
• Only one of Jones or Mac to start (it's Jones)

We beat them earlier in the season. Let's do it again.

I expect 2 new first team CBs, Ibou sold. With no Leoni, Endo basically never used, no Mo, no Isak plus Jogo hardly ever available we are struggling squad wise.

IMO we don't need signings. We need performance. Signings is mostly about selling hope.

Ibou has already reached the point where essentially he cannot be sold. He's in Bosman territory now.

Endo whether he is fit or not does not seem to be even considered as an option. So I put him in the squad. How is a player who barely plays beset by injuries?


Ibou can be sold for 10-15m easily. The tricky part is making sure we've got our replacements in before doing that. We can't let him go until then.

Ibou is out of contract in July. Why waste a transfer fee? Just sign him on a Bosman and wait it out for half a season.

The why is obvious. Secure an international CB now on a 5 year deal before competing with many clubs trying to sign on a free in the summer window.

This does not make sense. If you are a club that wants Ibou why would you wait until summer? There will be all sorts of competition for his signature in summer. Get a deal done now for 10-15m. Trent was signed not just because of the CWC but also to stop him doing a deal elsewhere on expiration of his LFC contract.

If a club that Ibou wants to join tries to sign him now he's gone in Jan as soon as we secure replacement(s).

AFCON is not a surprise - the club had plenty of time to plan. Injuries are part of sport and that is why you have a squad.

Either move the manager on or back him properly and give him the players he needs

Yep, no good can come of terminating Slot now. Give him what he needs in terms of players. If it doesn't work out start the search for a new manager over a few months rather than just getting anyone in on an interim basis.
