Correct me if I'm wrong but a spike by its definition is a sound that contrasts to the sound around it. If the murmur is the entire width of the snicko, then isn't that just a longer consistent sound rather than.. you know.. a spike?

This just demonstrates there needs to be an umpire's call with RTS. The sound didn't look like a nick, it could have been from a foot scratching or something, but also could have been from the ball running along the toe end. When snicko is inconclusive, third umpire should be able to say "I can't tell, stick with your decision, they don't lose the review though".

The problem is that they have given other batsmen out off murmurs like that one, there is no consistency in the decision making.
