Has anyone moved back to where you grew up? I've spent the last week in the Blue Mountains, particularly Blackheath. I've loved it and think that I could quite happily retire here after I've finished traveling. However I wonder what it would really be like. Would I be disappointed that it wasn't the place I grew up in? Would I be continually bombarded with childhood memories that would become overwhelming? Especially as I'm a very nostalgic person and think about the past a lot. I've felt very emotional at times this last week..Anyway, definitely don't have any plans and it's probably unlikely it will happen but was contemplating what it would be like.

i once moved to western europe. then came back to my family home. Not the same as your experience obvs as it was many many years ago. no long live there.

Apparently there is a word for this. "Hiareth", meaning "a homesickness for a time or place you can't return to".

That's interesting. I actually get that a lot. Places I've lived, vacations, when kids were a certain age etc.

I've lived in lots of different places but the Blue Mountains is the only place I really get this feeling for.
