Mackie says Tyson will be back at the club ‘in the short term’ so highly likely his season is barely impacted by his leave.

Hope everything is ok with him and his family - people first, footy second, always.
When anyone from Geelong say In the short term.
I don’t expect to see them until July

Well where does money rank then ?

Correct me if im wrong , but Ugle- Hagan last year at the W/B he got paid 100% of his money.

If it was about money he could have left as a FA, especially as there was more money on the table elsewhere

He could have done a lot better taking the Saint Kilda offer.
People change once they get money. Heard a shocking story about him grand final week and if it’s even half true I don’t care if we ever see him again

Not kicking a bloke when he's down..

But...in the trade thread he was the one I said we should trade if we needed to offload a best 22 player

What the **** does that mean.

It means hes on leave due to something that they dont want to disclose.
Could Be personal issues like bobby Hill or just health related (i doubt its anything involving criminal or we would know about it).
As much as hes a gun small and medium forwards is our strongest area so we can probably cover it for now. Id rather lose a small forward than say blitz or sdk.

Will be interesting to see how long it is before he comes back though.

Given our history with injury reports thats fair scepticism but I doubt this is that

Yes he did and Hill will get paid 100 % by Collingwood if he doesnt play all year. And yes thats not fair because in real jobs most of us dont get that.
But blame the aflpa not the individual players the afl were the ones dumb enough to negotiate the CBA with the AFLPA this way.

I said that too and I stand by it but can I repeat the fact that I said small forward is our strongest area and so giving up him or close (assuming mannagh signs a contract for life this year which i think he will) to strengthen our list weakness in other areas (rucks, mids etc) is a sound way to use limited trade chips. I didnt say it because of anything off field.
That said this is probably not the time for stengle butters trade discussions let's just see when and how he comes back first.

Yep…it is entirely more complicated. And has “been coming” for a while. He was “hanging on” most of last year…it is genuinely touch and go as to where it goes from here and frankly the most important thing here is wishing him the best.

I would love to have him back in the side fully focussed and at his best - but that is secondary.

I have had to accept as I get older that I will never understand what other people go through and therefore try to be less judgemental about how things play out (look at bobby hill for example…)…

Cats will survive either way - I just hope he can find his equilibrium again

I would like Oliver Wiltshire to stake his claim..
I would like all Geelong draftees to stake a claim for AFL football, but I doubt that Wiltshire will be able to do it. There are just too many medium sized forwards in front of him.

It means he got his fat contract, had a few average seasons and now will claim to be home sick at the end of the 2026 season
I thought he played somewhat selfishly at times in 2024 but to my eye appeared more of the team player in 2025

Disappointing if it curtails his 26 season. We need him

Pardon the intrusion but just thought I'd pass on that the word on the Hawks board is we're hosting Geelong for a scratch match at the KCC on the 16th of February.

Looks like they've got the scoreboard ready.

What/where is the KCC? Is that Dingley

I hope Tyson gets back. But its more important that he is okay within himself. All the best Ty.

As far as replacing him goes, I would think Shaun Mannagh takes the small forward role, especially with Bruhn and Worpel coming in as mids and best 22 players.

Anyone who can get to training please post your thoughts / observations. We who cannot get there really appreciate it.

Thanks.
