  • Knut Hamsun (Literature Prize 1920): In 1943, the Norwegian author Knut Hamsun travelled to Germany and met with Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels. After returning to Norway, he sent his Nobel medal to Goebbels as a gesture of thanks for the meeting. Goebbels was honoured by the gift. The present whereabouts of the medal are unknown.

Imagine Trump in sandlot baseball. Most of the game time would be Trump, up at bat, questioning strike calls and demanding the umpire(s) be replaced. Not like he was ever going to hit one. A nightmare. Most likely where/when the ‘walk on balls’ was introduced - kids can be smart.

Does anyone believe there is any truth to the China/Russia threat to Greenland or is it purely about rare earth and or wanting to grow the US empire.

I can’t see Russia having any interest or capability in taking it.
I think both countries have done the math and giving all consideration to it would determine the political cost would outweigh economic cost

The US have the same political cost but thats never been Trumps concern.

China would use long term diplomacy but its outside its real sphere of influence

Russia - right now - have a few other issues to deal with and any Greenland cost would be a burden too much . Plus they would receive so much more pushback than the US

At the moment its ''crazy Trump '' thought bubble . It would be a different type of pushback

I certainly don't. Trump has been the only one to suggest it, aside from Trump's grifting buddy Lauder. It's just another one of his weird obsessions that his addled mind won't let go. Or maybe it's another way to get people off the Trumpstein files. The pack of sycophants around him and also the Republicans in congress should be much more actively reining him on Greenland.

Hoefully his clayton's nobel will stop him endlessly banging on about how he is a victim and should have won 5 nobels by now with all the wars he imagines he has stopped. As an aside this whole nobel drama has arguably ended the thing as a desirable peace prize, if it was not already a joke after Kissinger won one, and Obama etc.

You're the one who avoided the question
lol. Can't compare the costs when only the detainees are locked up 24/7

The hire of the canine box is also 24/7. Whether a dog is in it or not doesn’t change the cost.

Trump is a dangerous President - you can very easily arrive at that conclusion by being reasonable and rational. Partisan bickering is how we got here.

I don't think you can blame partisan bickering for Trump’s malignant narcissism.

Agreed.

Russia invading Greenland would have literally the entire NATO alliance including the USA against them. It makes no sense.

Maybe not, but you can blame partisan bickering for him getting elected.

You reckon US voters went into the polling booth with a rational and reasonable assessment about who would be the better leader?

No, but when you’ve got one side trying to talk policy and the other making their entire platform about hatred it’s pretty difficult to make it a reasonable and rational process.

Trump had no policy, no plans. His entire platform was hatred and thought bubbles and concepts of a plan. People voted for him anyway, they didn’t vote for him being unaware that Harris was the adult in the room.

Which is the huge and very obvious weakness in Trump’s argument.

He’s just a kid who wants everything he’s told he can’t have. And who thinks he can throw his bulk around and have a tantrum when people say no. A real life Dudley Dursley.

He’s also enamoured with the toys he does have at his disposal. Such as the US army. They are (maybe) other reasons for the Venezuela incursion or the desire to send troops to US cities, but I think the biggest one is that he just wants to show off the military might that he thinks is his personal plaything.

I mean do you believe he is on 200k do you?
I believe he's a racist arseh*le who would terrorise brown people for free.

The pay and immunity for doing so is just a bonus. Scary to think how many just like him now comprise street level ICE :drunk:

Everybody will have their own opinions about what happened, but there are two indisputable facts:

(1) More people voted for Trump than the other person.
(2) People knew exactly what they were getting with Trump.

You can blame Trump for a lot of things - sexual assault, fraud, narcissism, generally screwing up the Covid response, January 6, pandering to Putin …

… but you can’t blame him for getting elected a second time when voters were well aware of all those things. That was somebody else’s cockup.
