Please tell me we actually used that banner?I agree.
I too, will never forget it.
I do remember getting a call from 3 different mates, each one a die-hard member of one of the other 3 clubs involved in the trade for Shaun.
Each one of them said that Clarko was crazy to overpay for a player on crutches, who was past his best and that the hawks would be lucky to get two injury interrupted season out of him and it would ruin our future.

I was lucky enough to be sitting next to the Geelong mate who called me, when Shaun did the above.
His wife, who is also a Geelong member was unable to go, he told her it would be great if I could sit next him, because my Hawthorn tears taste better fresh.
So she not only gave me her seat, she also paid for my airfare to get to Melbourne and back to Perth.
For the last Ten years, every time I text or message either of them. I will always attach the above picture.
They hate it.

For the Port mate who called me, I framed the two pictures above, together with a signed Silk400 T-Shirt.
He hates it.

I will always send the Essendon mate who called me the above photo with the message.
Do you remember when you helped us get Shaun Burgoyne, it was just after the time you picked David Myers over Cyril Rioli but it was before

He then tells me that he hates Essendon.
I love it.
Not sure why you are seeing that unless the post changed. Here is the same post from Instagram
It's about time this legend got some comment. 16 pages vs 28 pages for a bloke that hasn't played a game. This guys is frothing Shaun all over my socials at the moment.

I've got some news for you mate.Re: Burgoyne deal done
Dude.... the Hawks are going to be unstoppable....
3 straight premierships.!!!!
He was brilliant! It’s hard to remember a better “pure” footballer. For those who haven’t read it already, do yourself a favour and get Silk’s book.An absolute brute when he was on!! Quite possibly the best pure clearance player pound for pound that I've seen. What a player he was for us .
My love for Shaun has no bounds, the way he could drag the whole team over thr line again and again astonished me time and time again. The ultimate competitor. His highlight reel is a thing of beauty.
He charged the course of our clubs history. His last quarter in the 2013 PF...if he hadn't stepped up the way he did, we lose to Geelong, and then the club decides the list we had at that time was just short of premiership calibre, meaning there may have been a few trades of players that were involved in 2014 and 2015. Had a very big say in our 3peat.
The 2013 preliminary final is Best game I've ever been at! I went with a friend, and we sat in the stadium for an hour post siren saying over and over again, I can't believe we're going to the grand final?! I can't believe we won that game?? What the hell just happened?! To break the curse in such amazing fashion, when we looked like losing most of the night, just euphoric it lives in my memory, epic, the fight passion and drive this club has.He charged the course of our clubs history.
Simply amazing.
