I thought it was pretty good.
But I felt that you could really see the difference between playing this early, and not mid year (and yes I know the latter will never happen). But the skill execution of elites was just not there.

And I disagree on comments re: Stewart. I thought he struggled to keep up.

Loved Humphries. He inserted himself into that game.
Umm........ how can we get Ash?
Stewarts job had kittens when Weitering got injured the vics were a genuine tall short down back I thought Stewart worked himself into the game as it went along and was serviable but at no stage got on top he will be better for the run and no sign of last seasons knee injury is comforting.

I thought Stewart looked pretty ordinary too. Panicked a bit in the clinches, but Weitering’s injury probably changed his role

That's just what being a defender at 33 years old looks like (best case scenario), no matter who you are.

Enright and Hodge are possibly the two closest to an exception, but they still had dicey 1v1 moments or passages where they looked slow near the end.

You need your prime movers to step up and help mitigate the natural lack of athleticism and power present in veteran defenders.

He's still only 32 - for another month 😉

Loved Lawsons second half.
Took the game on , used his pace to gain metres then hit a target, gold standard.
Seemed to kick longer with that as well , that's exciting for 2026.
I just hope we can keep him long term, and that he doesn't head home to WA. He was in their best 3 last night.
