Yes, but it will be vastly different given Rankine, Curtin, Keane, Ah Chee, Soligo, Cumming, Peatling, Hinge and possibly Berry are all out
Most of them won't be playing round 1.

Midfield options are thinning out, so we need to trial different players against Fremantle. That means giving decent time to Taylor, Edwards & Pedlar.

Buggar about Peatling joining the hamstring awareness club.

B: Michaelanny, Butts, N Murray
HB: Nankervis, Worrell, Milera
C: Cook, Berry, Jones
HF: ANB, Fogarty, Keays
F: Pedlar, Thilthorpe, Walker
R: McAndrew, Dawson, Rachele
I: Laird, Taylor, Edwards, Draper, T Murray
That centre line is disgusting. If we’re rolling that out in the first three weeks, we’ll probably be 0-3 and staring down the barrel.

I just cant see us playing Turray AND Tex
Only way that happens is if Toby Murray plays as the resting ruck and fills that 5th player on the interchange bench.

And then the purpose for that would be to allow Riley Thrilthorpe to play as a key forward the entire match.

Pers, I cannot see Toby Murray playing much AFL footy, this season or the next.

It hampers a bit of versatility if we decide to go down that route early IMO, as good as it looked last week.

Yeah, I agree with you regard flexibility and I don’t know what they will do as I cannot see any of the 3 ruckman being successful in a forward pocket. Once the ball hits the ground, they will run it out with little to no pressure.

Thats the danger.

I understand Collingwood have their issues with tall forwards, but weve gotta get the ball to them somehow. Our midfield is set to be a bit depleted at best, decimated at worst for R1. We need to be trying out kids like Edwards and Dowling to fill the breach

I'd rather ANB step up and go in the midfield against Collingwood, than those two.

I can see they will revert back to Keays and Laird moving back into the midfield with Dawson and Zac Taylor. Jones, ANB, and maybe Sholl to play on the wing.

Then Cook can play HBF, Dowling and or Edwards on the HFF to get through Rd 1 and maybe 2 until we get key players back.

Then whats the point in having them on the list, Edwards in particular is an untried 21yo kid.

ANB could do (would) a better job in 2 weeks, but its not just about that.

I just think ANB is being forgotten a little bit. I wouldn't have him as a full time mid all year, I think he could offer more than these two in the short term.

Don't we normally play our intended round 1 team in the final pre season game?

Yup. It's a proper dress rehearsal.

Mind you, this one will probably have a few changes due to injuries.

Toby Murray or Tex makes little difference when it comes to pressure.

I think if we're going that route, we are looking at one always being on the bench with TMuz picking up ~40% TOG.

As the really smart clubs continuously tell you, it is entirely about that.

We wouldn't see multiple teams batting at >130 games experience (and continuously getting older) if trialing for the future was a smart move.

So you're rolling with 1 player playing 40%

Seems a waste of time.

To be fair, a runner is only going to be ~50-55% seeing our current lowest tend to be at 60% and that's going to lower with a fifth option.

Having a slot at 40% but it allows your most important player to play as a key forward for ~85% of the game instead of 60-65% is a pretty massive payoff. After all, it lets us fully build our forward line around Thilthorpe.

If Toby Murray plays more than 10 games with 40% time on ground, we are stuffed.

I don’t think Toby Murray is up to the AFL standard, heck, I don’t think he’s up to SANFL standard.

He is the AFL version of an Antetokounmpo brother.
