Righto, what do we think coaches?

Newman already suspended for 2 games, which means won't be playing til round 4 due to his early bye. Definitely liking the rucks. Set and forget. I'm not confident Oliver will be value. His BE is 90, which is around what I think he will score.

Dropped Parish for Bruhn which opened up Budarick to Phillipou, and Jackson to Cameron.

Plan is to systemically cull the failed mid pricers to chase premo mids/defs off their bye.

I have the same feeling about Zeke Uwland.

Can you not fit Dev Rob in the team if you get Bruhn and Greene?
Bruhn had a good role in yesterday's game, but so does Greene (until Callaghan returns - or may continue to play midfield even when he returns).
Yeah I thought I would run one of Duurs and Zoolander as my slow burn but after last night I’ve now dropped Zoo.
Dev would still be on my pine, I should’ve said Lombard or someone..but it’s all changed again anyway so never mind hahah. I’m a headcase.

I just have a funny feeling on the Crows, I'm steering clear of Dawson. Love the rest of the set up though.

I also like Hall at the Saints, but people seem to be preferring Philippou?
Interesting. I love the no early bye and the guy has burnt me in previous years. He’s expensive but we’ll all need him at some stage.
Yeah Hall has been invited to train with my main group a couple times but just hasn’t connected well enough. I like him though, a good pick. I’m sure I’ll overreact to Saturdays game and get him in if he outscores Pou by more than two haha.

Dawson had some really poor scores last year, was a frustrating own.

I've started Dawson the last 3 years ...and without an early bye, I'm wondering why I'm picking Butters over him.

"i wont pick more than maybe 1 or 2 mid pricers this year"
Mid price madness. My team is similar lol. I went back to look at my notes from previous 2 years and one of my notes was:
"Caution with midpricers: Don't pick small lock down defenders like Budarick."

I think a good amount of mid pricers is fine, gives you alot of flexibility to downgrade or sideways to someone you missed with the failed picks.

I didn't think there were many good ones this year but they've come out of the woodworks.

And Budarick has scored quite well in the last 2 practice matches he's played. I didn't watch the Bulldogs games, so no idea on his role. I am too scared to go there though.

Are people considering Williams seriously now Newman’s out? Priced at 61, average 90+ in the role previously with some good early fixtures. I’m warming to him and think he’s flying under the radar

Don't trust his body, his role or even if he is still good enough.

He has gone over 85 once in his career and it was 6 years ago.

IMO a goer as a late draft pick and that’s about it - Newman out for a couple probably helps his cause though

Think I'm getting close to settling on this.. only a few slots I'm still thinking about. And will see how R0 goes.

Current team
Not a huge fan of my backline, but idk what changes id make.
No Uwland feels weird, but I think ive got the main rookies I need.
Visentini and McAndrew sharing R2/R3 for now, they can cover English and both can make me cash. At least one of them should stay in their sides medium term.
After R6 Blakiston is an option there if hes still around, and CDT at F8 means I can trade McAndrew or Visentini out to a player on any line when I want to cash them in.
English just seems too good to skip after the other day.
Not that sure with Lalor or Bruhn, im just seeing how they feel for now.

Have a bunch of cash on hand but unsure if stick with the current team or go with another mid price forward. Not convinced that Lalor will increase much in price

My first proper post for the season, although I’ve been quietly following along in the background.

I’ve well and truly fallen for the preseason hype and completely blown up my team. Couldn’t even tell you what it looked like originally and wish I'd saved a version.

So I'm posting this to keep myself accountable through the Community Series.

D4 has been a bit of a headache, with Newman, Kiddy, and Windsor/Jiath all rotating through at different points, but I’ve gone with the two rookie set up, as they all look likely to play/score.

Currently running with two bye premos in the midfield, but I’m comfortable with them as keepers.

Still keen to get another look at Rowston and Will Brodie for that M6 spot. I’ve gone with the more expensive option for now, but there’s a chance I try squeeze in both.

With all the uncertainty around rucks, I’ve settled on Jackson and Visentini, leaving some cash aside to upgrade to Xerri or English pending next week's games.

The forward line has probably been my most unsettled area. I’ve even played around with Sheez and Trac in the mids, as well as my current setup with Freijah and Rachele. I’ll be watching them all closely next week, especially with teams more likely to field full strength lineups.

O.Steene is just a placeholder atm.

It's good to be back!
Updated team post Community Series.

McAndrew’s 70s feel too good to leave on the bench, so I’ve reshuffled to get him on field, which also lets me run a three rookie setup.

INS:
Sinclair
Windsor
J.Serong
Bruhn
English
M.Reid
Blamires
CCJ

OUT:
Bergman
Z.Uwland
Jaques
Steele
Farrow
Jackson
Visentini
Steene

Round 0 will probably throw up a few must haves and force another reshuffle, but I’m pretty happy with how the team’s looking for now.

Like this team and I probably should given it's very similar to mine :p

Same backline, Rowston and Bruhn at M6 & M7, McAndrew R2 and Reid F5.

I could run Lalor at F6 as well but I'm going to try something a little different over the early byes, plus I think Robertson could match Lalor's output.

Really like the look of FOS, he's put on 8kg and is playing the role suited to his skillset, D/M is handy too. I'm starting a few players with early byes and probably need more bench cover than most, if I run him off the mid bench then coverage is much better, might even help with the 50% rule. It's not something I'd normally do as I like to maximise the on-field spend.

Round 2: Missing Naicos, Bruhn & Smith. Cover would be FOS, Sharp & Blamires

Round 3: Missing Nandos & Heeney. Cover would be FOS & Sharp

Round 4: Missing Sinclair & Rowston. Cover would be FOS (via DPP) & Sharp

The above doesn't take into consideration rucks or forwards but it does give a bit of flexibility and a POD to the team.
