Regarding the Iran war:
  • has Trump got congress approval? From my understanding the US can't go to war without congress approval (but then again he didn't see congress approval before bombing Venezuela airfields and kidnapping their president and everyone seems fine with that).
  • What military advice has Trump been given? From my armchair military strategy knowledge Iran would be a hard nut to crack because unlike Iraq, Iran is a very hilly country with mountainous regions which will make it difficult to invade. This is probably why the US hasn't invaded Iran before now.
  • didn't Trump declare the strike on the nuclear sites a success last year? If the strikes were successful and set Iran back for years, why the urgency to go to war now rather than diplomacy or negotiations? Could it be (shock) he lied?
  • as other have pointed out. It will be interesting to see how Albanese responds to this. Committing troops to Iran will be highly unpopular domestically, but at the same time wouldn't want to piss off Trump with a lack of support. It's a very fine tight rope.

No he hasn't. Technically Congress approves wars but he can do up to i think 28 days of "military action" before withdrawing. But he will get congress approval if it exceeds that timeframe

1. lol no
2. Lindsay Graham fantasising about, idk maybe Mark Lavin in his ear. Possibly some weirdo evangelical zionists.
3. Yes he did, and of course he lied.
4. Albo will keep felating the US. What will be funny is how the LNP and one nation respond. they cant exactly oppose it can they? Criticise Albo for not offering our troops before we are asked?

Why should we assume that Australian Special Forces aren't possibly already on the ground in enemy territory in the region (not necessarily Iran) assisting on special ops related to the current US/Israeli military operation there?

Could you just do 27 days, stop for a few days a week and begin again, rinse and repeat and just say each attack is a seperate war/opperation? seems some weird loophole theyd go for.

But enough democrats would vote for it, Schumer and Jeffries will just say they are "concerned" and want "restraint" if we are lucky, but mainly just upset Trump didn't ask them first (as they would of said yes anyway).

Just another observation which I don't think people have thought about. The impact this would have on the war in Ukraine. Iran was the main provider of drones to Russia about a year ago. If they still are now, then Russia would be in short supply of a vital weapon used in the war.
